MakerWorld Exclusive Program is now Live!

Me? Did you mean my pokemon themed designs?

No, I mean the guy uploading a rubiks cube to the exclusive program and then turning around saying all the star wars, marvel and disney designs should be removed due to people not owning the IP

oh whoops, sorry. I’m not used to the forum format compared to reddit etc.

He re-uploaded it again

This is the third time he uploaded the model iirc, it got taken down every time.

Or was it this?

I know for a fact that he keeps re-uploading models that were taken down.

The harry potter glasses are not a remix, as far as i can see he only colored the lightning yellow.

(Offtopic now)

He even has some downloads already in his profile. I don’t get it why people do this kind of things. The rewards are juicy, so it seems.

Be glad you didn’t see the rest of his account.
I reported, did my part.

Okay if I rename it as a puzzle cube, am I allowed to criticize?

As a joke…

Then everyone could also change the name of their models to ā€œPisney Figureā€ and get on with it. No harm done :grinning:

IMO MW should pull this program until they can rework how entries are handled. There are way way way too many violations and we’re only 48 hours in.

I think they need an approval process to submit stuff to exclusive, beyond just the 100 print or more limit for an account.

Haha, that account xsynatic posted to… there’s some not so family friendly items in there I doubt makerworld would be proud to claim as an exclusive.

I read through the guidelines again and went and checked the ones I made exclusive. The guidelines are strict enough, like you’d want, but there’s no one at the door making sure they’re followed.

It made me consider, is there going to be a flood of people getting dinged? And as predicted, I bet we would get a ton of forum post asking why why why too. Well, the answer why will probably be obvious enough, haha.

I like the program in general. It expands upon Makerworld in a way I wanted. I put a lot of work and production into things, and it gives an avenue of getting back without having to charge end users for my models.

TBH manual approval would solve most problems for people wanting to join exclusive program and get benefits of it, but would create tremendous amount of work on MW staff. They could do slow-rollout with invitation-only for designers having slowly build up exclusive application queue, iron out kinks etc… But the cat’s out the bag now and if they gonna ding people that’s gonna create backlash. They really released it too hastily.

I think the cat’s out of the bag as Johnny put it. I’ve already noticed that a few of the models that did not follow the rules are already being removed and I would imagine that those designers will start following the rules after getting an initial point ding.

Designers were excited about this feature and may have selected their models to be part of the program in haste and they can’t undo it for 90 days, so I think one idea is temporarily allow people to remove the exclusive option from their model after they learn more about the rules in a grace period. For example, if someone submitted heuforges or AI cover images in haste, they would get an initial point removal for that model and then have the option to go back and revise which ones they are submitting to the program.

I agree and have a few suggestions for improvement. One idea is to require designers to apply for the exclusive model program, which would include a step to watch a video or explicitly agree to the guidelines. This would clarify the expectations for model quality and instructions upfront, ensuring that participants fully understand the standards. This way, there are no surprises if they receive a point deduction later for submitting a low-effort model

Don’t drag me into your fight because you were called on your hypocrisy.

Big question. If every model is exclusive, is any model exclusive. I’d really like to know the secret sauce on where exculsive models are being pushed to the top. Like if I search for a specific thing do the exclusive models get pushed to the top? Are they only being pushed pushed more in the related models section?

I set my newest and recently popular models as exclusive to see if there are any changes in views or downloads from the previous data.

This is a great point. I think the mixed message with Exclusive Models is that these are models posted only on MakerWorld -and- these are models of high quality. Many people read just that it’s a model that can only be found on MW and signed up for it without knowing that it also had to be of high quality. Perhaps there should be two designations of models?

So that 100 print requirement to even join isn’t really any type of meaningful barrier. One user I found yesterday is one of those that adds profiles on popular models but makes no changes, shows no printed image to scrape points. Then their ā€œexclusiveā€ entries were just them using that new AI PrintMon maker. No printed picture either just the rendered image shown. I did report them but all that was done was the print profile was pulled.

Sidebar: these people are conscientiously knowingly doing this and gaming the system or within the bleeding edge of the guidelines (eg our pesky ai gen thumbnail colleagues) they will find a loophole, a caveat, a tolerance level of moderation and stay there / and the minute they get held accountable will start a ā€œMW/BBL are horrible!ā€ thread and get all the trolls to like and comment until someone asks for the 30th time ā€œcan you please post a link or pic?ā€ and everyone finds out it’s ai gen garbage or low effort obviously in violation hue forges or 2D flats. Wash rinse repeat.

I haven’t looked at the analytics yet, but anecdotally multiple of my models that had been essentially dormant are now receiving boosts for the first time since posting them several months ago, so it’s definitely doing something even if that something may be short lived.

Maybe pull the program was the wrong choice of words but better to halt it. :person_shrugging: Keep new erroneous entries from coming in while the ones in place now can be cleaned up and a better system can be implemented. Or maybe they’re just going to have a grace period where people don’t get dinged for wrongful entries? or the ability to back out rather than have support do it manually.

well from my side i’ve actually already made a decision, unless this program significantly changes the barrier of entry this could be:

  • only verified designers
  • no ai stuff at all
  • limit the amount of exclusive models that can be posted per week

if none of these happens, i will not post any exclusive designs, i would even remove the two that i have now, but it locks you in for 90 days…

this will probably be good for some, but for me personally this is not a model that interests me

I think this program is a flop. Only 1% of the models could be eligible, almost all the models are posted elsewhere too
