Makerworld profiles getting updated in the background automatically?

Has anybody got messages or reports from users that your print profiles are suddenly not printing as it used to be and or suddenly the profiles are no longer compatible with Bambu Studio? At first, I don’t believe it until I checked it myself and indeed, it’s happening.

Here’s what happened so far:

One user messaged me that he has been printing my Universal AMS Adapter for Mini Spools many times now and suddenly today, it’s failing on him. He tried for more than three times and it would stop printing on the same layer.

So I checked the issue. Downloaded the print profile myself and opened it in my version of Bambu Studio which is v1.10.1.50. I’m quite certain that I have not updated the profile or re-uploaded a different profile for a long time.

But opening the profile on my end, I’m shown with the error dialog below:

Suddenly, this profile which I created a while back with this same version of Studio I have is saying the 3mf file that is in beta version and that it’s asking me to try the beta version of Bambu Studio.

I could only think that the profiles in Makerworld are getting updated on its own without the creators knowing? Has anybody experienced the same?

When my suggestion to allow one sliced profile to work with all printers providing the volume of print fits the other printers was accepted, they did it for all profiles going forward.

They did say they would go back and backfill profiles.

I assumed they just didn’t.

I do not know if this is related in any way.

I have experienced similar issues:

This profile does not use supports and I never changed that setting, so I am unsure why this setting would be relevant.

Thanks, Malc. May I know if this is just recent? Or can you recall if it’s from a while back?

Ah thanks man! That’s similar to my issue.

So it might be widespread… May I know when you noticed this?

The change to the profile auto-generation was many months ago.

Remember, they have hundreds of thousands (not the tasty ice cream topping) of models and far more profiles.

If this is the cause, it would take significant amounts of time.

If your model is newer than around August, it is unlikely related.

I first noticed it about a month ago, but this message appears on every profile I’ve uploaded, even those dating back to October 2023.

I got this message as well today.

This happened to me previously. I was getting some reports from users with similar issues. That was weeks/months back. I’ve never used beta versions of Bambu Studio.

To speculate for a moment. I’m not entirely sure that when you upload a print profile, that it just uploads the file straight. There’s other data that’s added to the print profile. I don’t think the issue is specific to a user, but probably a Makerworld issue with how it’s processing the file before handing it off to the downloader… which…

@Tanklet, @MakerWorld, maybe something you should be aware of?

Well this is good to know info. I thought I was going crazy. I am not running the beta version and the custom 3MF files I have created a while ago on an older version (1.10.00.89) are now giving me the same error. Weird s**t is happening in this world.

We can’t use betas, if this is introducing betas, how do we protect ourselves from the risks MAKERWORLD warned US against?

Thanks for the responses everyone. Indeed, it’s not only me.

Forgot to mention that, I can click and close the warning/error dialog box and my version of Bambu Studio would still open the 3mf file, not showing any other issues with the file.

However, I can’t eliminate the possibility that whatever this 3mf beta version is, it may be the reason my user is having the print failures coz the slicer is probably interpreting some incompatible settings incorrectly.

I het the same popup for alot of my prints.

I’ve been getting the message too including for files that I modified myself that then later seem to start producing the message. I just ignore the message and it seems to work anyway.

I might be in the minority here, but after printing for almost 10 years, I prefere to use my own settings for slicing. I have seen some profile settings in the .3mf that are down right puzzling.

Is it part of the new auth system ? because as i understand it bambu labs 3mfs are there own, hence the reason you are being offered the new beta software

I use my own settings as well.

This happened sometimes in the past when Bambu was about to release a new Bambu Studio version. Perhaps testing it with MakerWorld first.

I just got my Bambu A1 last month and have seen that on almost every profile I’ve downloaded but it has not, so far, impacted my prints… they have all worked

I have had the same message too in the last couple weeks.
I just clicked off it and all was fine.
I did wonder if it was a way to get users to try the beta version that has caused such a stir about BBL, thus introducing the possible 3rd party lock out that isnt a lock in, but then again it may just be a conspiracy theory
