MakerWorld Update 2024/01/04

I do not care if the designer has posted a rendered image as long as a real picture of the print is posted in the reviews by one of the users who printed the thing.
That means the model is printable and usable. The rendered image might be more useful for describing the functionality of the model.
Let’s not exagerate with political correctness.

What is the purpose of rules then? Maybe a admin should clarify on this? Many accounts just uploaded renders and even as a featured designer. No penalty at all while the rest of us follow the rules.

well @SPStudio i learned my lesson after i had 12 pp down NEVER UPLOAD A PRINT PROFILE WITHOUT REAL PIC - shar designs

you don’t have to worry, i don’t think its ever implemented. i didn’t the risk tho. Not worth it.

well look at

they did gave u 10 days

well i now upload real pics

This works at major 3D renders… but this rule doest not work best on all 2D hueforge images we actually can show results very accurate at virtual pictures, So why do i need print all my prints out because systems says you need have actual realworld image. most artist dont print all their work out. just giving opportunity to user to print out of these!.

So my way i have printed many of 2d works out never had problems with my own profile / filament settings. as usual we also check all filement checks on slicer and slicer profile are fine then. also my friend can confirm this he printed also my work so i have kinda proof these work will work users. i havent got any problems reported for users for these prints. because we know they work!

as artist we dont have time to print all out just for proof of working we focus more on making these out!. but agree some works its better to print out… like lithophanes there is no good way to show how they looklike in realworld i always print them first and taking pictures…

in practice, this rule has worried me for a long time.

you get compensated your time and filament cost with points. Rules are rules tho its not carried out, i rather not “test” the system. Up to you to challenge it.

yeah that’s your option i respect that. and i disagree
rules can be made change and fine tune for suitable for all!. i spoke words of artists in makerworld who want share their work here and speding their time making art!. ,sharing them people and earn few points art why not? you dont lose anything we just show virtual image what it will be, if some people want try these prints why not?. as we know they dont break your machines. who losing on this afterall? im sure makerworld at the end.

if system start give penalties our work we can move easily other platform who dont punish users for this kinda nonsense. as love makerworld i want give my support sharing my art for makerworld users and also few on my own community too! why not if doing much art at day. yeah some people cannot product much images or art daily but known few users makerworld their work is beautiful and they dont even share their reallife pictures, many users also download them and few may share real pictures at comments too. no need give penalties i think points are little carrot to give motivation and share work here!

Thanks for your time

i will not test it myself @SPStudio

@Tanklet Also this can resolved making user levels when user got verifield or something level he/she can post renders or virtual prints proof of work and system not giving penalties. sorry for tag wanted you see this upper posts too.
for my option renders virtual versions are fine unless we know their models working right. and profile settings are fine and safe!

As Makerworld supporters better get rewards more than penalties

My overall experiences about Makerworld system (daily observation for the last 6 weeks), it’s very unfair. I might just go try Printables + their shop system which is more reasonable.

  1. I am seeing some models get featured twice in a row. Always the same users or models.
  2. Top of the list for months or weeks.
  3. There are way nicer models never see the light and get buried.
  4. The only things are popular are 3d printer accessories related things or mods.
  5. The non-printer related are just glorious promoted internally (smells like corruptions).
  6. Some models without photos, but a bad render get promoted. (huh?)

The nice thing about Printables, the featured takes turn fair for everyone. Currently Makerworld that featured model has been sitting there for 4+ weeks.

Makerworld needs to automated this with criteria, not cherry picking by staff. This is terrible!

After the update Jan 4, Makerworld feels like dead atm but filled with random print profiles without photos. Just flooded with low quality stuff.

No.4 is expected but well over populated to the point where I just use the search and filter out the nonsense. I would dearly appreciate the ability to mute Designers, that is my bugbear when they upload mass of models (usually carp) that I’m not interested in.

I’d like to see this feature as well. There are just some accounts that I can tell I’ll never print anything they upload and it would be nice to just not see in browsing/searching.

I can`t upload any 3mf models. it show me image upload unsuccess. but i just upload 3mf file without any image. I do not understand why this happen, and no other people report this issue?

Could you share your 3mf with me?
I will try to figure out the problem.

Hello Tanklet Hi Makerworld team, can you please make it so that you can only rating with the print image? You get a one star rating on your 3D model without a picture and without a description of what went wrong. The model has always received a 5 star rating, yes I know that i can report it, but it’s getting annoying when people ask what’s wrong with their print and don’t get any answers. It’s okay if something is wrong and you don’t have a 5 or 4 star rating, only then I want to see it and know what’s wrong with my 3D model so that I can improve it.

Not having a printed model image or even worse faking it proves its not worth downloading in my opinion. If the Maker hasn’t taken the effort, I’m sure not going to. Some 3d models won’t look as good as the cute rendered pic, or they’ll take 30hrs and then another 2hrs picking off supports.

@Ceppetoswerkstatt I like your idea but problem is filtering the no-image pics out and so far MW relies on reporting them. Albeit fighting a losing battle by the looks.
