Maximum Printing Space P1

Have any of you experimented to see the largest thing you can print (on the X and the Y)? Here’s what I came up with. Anything larger triggers a red warning. I realize it can be modified (saw it in the widi), but, just sayin…

I did some experimenting when I created these single-layer surface quality tests.

My cutout on the bottom left is 35x44mm.

Open my profile for your printer and move it on the bed, it will warn you the model is outside of the bounds.

Hmm… I’m probably doing something wrong, but when I download your file for X and P, it shows up in my slicer as 250 x 250 which is bigger than my 245 x 245, but it triggers the warning as you said. Did you just go ahead and print it anyhow?

No warnings for me.

I suggested moving it around to see that any movements would trigger the warning, the warning (for me) does not exist after launch.

Are you using the engineering plate? That would trigger the issue.

Cool, smooth & textured do not.

I have also tried viewing it for all other printers with the cutout without issues.

No. I’m using the one and only plate that came with the printer. The textured PEI.

You can see in the screenshot that I also had the Textured plate configured.

Well, you know I’m a noob to Bambu, so I wouldn’t dare to tell you what’s what. I only know that using your dims on my slicer triggers the red warning. I read in the wiki that there is a mod wherein you print a small device and attach it to your printer to defeat the constraints. You didn’t do that did you?

I’m not sure what “…your dims on my…” means.

Nope, I only use factory defaults for everything.

dims = dimensions usually

I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to be cryptic. I was just saying that the dimensions of your model (250 x 250) triggered the warning on my slicer. The only way I could avoid it was to reduce my model to 245 x 245 and… the cutout in the corner.

You can print the full area if you follow the instructions on the wiki.

Jon, any thoughts one why my 250x250 (less cut out) single layer test print doesn’t trigger any warnings of exceeded the available build space, yet it does for Bill?

I only get that warning if the engineering plate is selected.

Yes, I mentioned that to anyone following the thread.

The only warning I get with your model is with the engineering plate and that is because it doesn’t suggest using PLA with it.

I’ll check to make sure my settings weren’t for the engineering plate when I got the warning. I’m almost certain I was set for the PEI textured. But just out of curiosity, what does the print area have to do with the filament type?

I think you meant plate rather than filament.

In all honesty, I’ve no idea.

I wasn’t aware it did until I tried to reproduce your experience and experimented like a toddler by playing with anything in sight.

When you select “Edit” on the printer entry, do you have 256x256 set as default when clicking “Set”?

Well, I do need to know. I’m printing some model houses for a developer and he wants them as big as they can be. And, as far as I can tell without modifying my machine, that number is 245 x 245 and cannot step on the bottom left corner.

You realise I explained that I (me) was the toddler in that comment, right?

I’ve had multiple people confirm the test flat sheet works on their P & X series printers.

The only BL printer that can print a square of 250x250 without a cut out in the corner is the A1 (not mini).

It is possible to make changes to the printer to get to that corner, BL has a Wiki article about it.
