Hello everyone, this is my first post so forgive my newbeeness. I have an X1C at work and have to use the SD card to transfer programs. For whatever reason, when I send a multicolor print it prints the 1st layer in 1 color and instead of purging and cleaning the nozzle, it comes to the front left of the printer (home) and purges and never switches to the next color. I am able to select the filament locations on the printer. I have tried factory restarting, reformatting the SD, but no luck. Is it something in the Gcode? I am using Bambu Studio. Thanks in advance!
Welcome to the forum.
The front left is where the filament cutter is. Front right is homing. It’s purging at the front?
Make sure you are slicing the print for the correct printer. Older version of the firmware for the X/P series didn’t check that the part was sliced for the correct printer when printing from the SD card.
Thanks for the reply, when you say left are you talking left rear because on an X1 carbon the cutter and wiper are in the back when facing the printer.
The cutter is on the toolhead, it’s behind that little lever on the right of the toolhead. The toolhead is pressed against the front left of the printer to push the filament cutter into the filament to cut it.
The X & P series printers have the physical cutter in the print head, but, the level to cut the filament is pressed when the print head moves to the front left of the printer.
For reference, immediately under the display.
This is why there is a print exclusion area in that spot when you use Bambu Studio.
The “poop” chute is at the back.
The process that occurs when swapping filaments is:
- Print head moves to the front left
- Pushes into the spot that closes the cutter lever
- Print head moves to the rear poop chute to expel remaining filament
- Primes new filament.
