+1 please please please please
+1, would not have bought our X1C for work if I knew it didn’t have support for multiple users for the same printer… Huge disappointment.
This also effects us in Education. MakerBot has a great cloud utility for the classroom setting. The single user is SO limiting in SO many different environments.
Is there any movement on this that anyone is aware of? I just recommended the X1 for our office at work and it’s on its way, based on my personal experience with it. Not having the ability to have multiple accounts on the same printer was an oversight on my part.
Otherwise what workarounds could be used? Setup a “work” account that everyone logs into? Also, if I have Bambu Handy on my device, can I switch between accounts easily (“work” and “home”)?
We use the single account approach you mention.
The problem or hurdle is that I have to logout/login from one account to another when printing on my personal printer back home.
+1. Any movement on this question? Hope Bambu Lab will add this feature soon.
+1. I just discovered that we can’t share a printer with multiple user accounts. I work for a big Japanese company that is known for making cameras, sensors and TVs, and it would definitely ease the adoption of the printers for R&D purposes to have that (meaningful) multiple users feature. Who wants to share the same credentials between multiple users anyway? It’s simply a bad security practice.
+1
this is to get to the 25 chars … +1 should be sufficient
That’s why we have a , to avoid useless posts that only say “+1”.
Use it, and save some wear and tear on your keyboard.
When I bought my printer I didn’t even know this was a limitation. Learning that this, of all things is a limitation to an otherwise mind-blowing machine, is crazy. Please make the software/firmware changes required for this, as it does not make sense that you would limit this to just a single user.
If you need convincing, think of it this way with your greedy business hats on… Why limit yourselves to selling filament to one user on one printer, when you could sell filament to 2, 3 or even 4 people that also want to do their own prints on the same printer, in the same household/business etc… It’s a no brainer!!
thanks for the advice… it wasn’t clear for me where to give my “thumb up”. usually on a feature request i would vote for the feature not for the message…
cheers tom
Have you looked at using the LAN Only mode? If you go into account settings on the printer then select WLAN, you can turn on LAN Only mode and then use the provided access code to connect to the printer in Bambu Studio. You may need to log out of Bambu Studio and the login to see the printer is now connected.
+1 looking at getting a printer for me and my housemates, and how is this not a thing, Bambu is clearly a company capable of doing something like this
CMON BAMBU
That’s a bad workaround for an expensive purchase that should just come with it.
+1 this is very limiting. i own one and needed to create a shared new email just for my family. i considered to buy one for the company but this limitation is stopping me.
I agree with everyone here. Would be nice to grant other accounts access to the printer.
However, I would point out that LAN-only mode would probably meet the needs of many commenters - specifically for those who are in a school or business where you don’t actually want every user to create a Bambu account. You just want multiple computers to be able to send jobs to the printer. You can do this by installing the Bambu Studio and configuring each one with the LAN-only printer. No account needed.
It would have to include 2FA to the owner or whomever first logged into handy and claimed that printer otherwise there might be a future security leak and one could take it over. Google the cloud storage company Snowflake which got hacked back in May, if a company using that provider didn’t have 2FA they were most likely compromised in that hack.
+1 for multi-user. It’s a big limitation for my company. If many people could add various items to a print queue that worked across many printers that would be amazing.
I just got the X1C and I might return it knowing this limitation. I bought it so multiple people in my household can independently access and print on the printer. Has anyone come up with a best practice for this? If I create a shared Google account specifically for shared access would that work?
I am also unclear on the comments around filaments? Can someone explain or point to the manual?
Thanks…
Welcome to the forum.
Can you clarify your question about filament?
