Multiple accounts on printer

Babmu please add printer sharing feature!

I second this request! We have a printer at work that multiple users need to access. Sharing credentials to a single account is never a good idea.

Definitively, that feature needs to be fulfilled. I will also greatly appreciate to share my printer with others. Let me know if you need people to test the function before its release to the public. I have two kids who will love to print their own stuff, plus two parents that will be freed from assisting them out.

Thanks a lot.

+2.5. Makes it hard to run the operation if me and my biz partner can’t manage the same machines.

+1 Totally needed feature

+1 Would also love to have that

+1 My school’s robotics lab would love this, and my friend uses my printer for cosplay work. I have them logged in under me as they also manage some of my online accounts for me, but this isn’t an option for most people—for example, my robotics lab issue.

+1 whould be very handy to share it with family members without giving them my login credentials

+1 I can’t believe this has still not been implimented. Not happy Bambu Lab.

I have found it easy to switch as its as simple as going to the printer logging the previous out and scanning the QR code on the app to log in. The only way it seems having multiple users would be of and benefit is if you wanted to give multiple people the ability to monitor the print.

This is what we do at my workplace.

+1 for this!
Didn’t realize this wasn’t possible when I bought the thing. First disappointed with bambu so far tbh.
It’s 2024… Why is this not fixed yet?

+1 Need the feature of multiple user accounts on the X1.

+1 please sort this BL. You shouldn’t expect multiple people to share one login.

definitely +1… this should be basic functionality in the world of makers… certainly if you promote sharing of creations … (it often starts within your close community / family)

I think this is an absolute necessity, We have a P1S as a learning 3D tool in a group setting which meets once a week. We only need 1 account but multiple devices will need remote access at different times.

Signed in for the first time to +1 this request. It’d be nice to allow my teenager access to the printer while also being able to monitor it myself since I’m far more likely to pay attention and catch a problem.

Multiple printers can already register to a single account so granting printer access to other accounts should be simple on the software back-end. I’m betting the delay comes from implementing permissions. I bet there is pre-written code they could license to get 80% of the way software-wise and its not like they need a monumental permissions framework designed…could even emulate existing work done by other 3d party printer platforms. To me it seems like they’re either overcomplicating it with full in-house custom code and permissions framework, or this feature request keeps getting punted down the priority chain in development by someone who lacks perspective on the consumer side from both business and home users.

With Bambu’s whole ethos revolving around ease of use for both commercial and personal applications it seems very strange that this was missed in the first place and even stranger that it hasnt been addressed yet. Basic things like this that make customers seek solutions outside the Bambu ecosystem has potential for loss of revenue, even for unpaid features.

Warning: Unnecessary details below - dont read if not nerd.

For example, we can use OctoPrint to get basic permission control for free…nobody who starts using a 3rd party solution has a reason to also use Handy. While i dont believe filament and accessories can be purchased in-app at this point, it would be an insane miss if thats not a top-tier priority for devlopment. Anyone who has already gone 3rd party out of necessity is a potential loss of revenue. Obviously not every user is going to purchase from the app but very basic market research could give an expected percentage who would and approximate income per user per month/quarter/year/etc. Because it is impossible to directly target only customers who would purchase in-app for retention stats, that approx income would likely be averaged across the entire userbase as a baseline for the value of active user accounts in the Bambu ecosystem. Once you have a quantifiable value for an active account, loss of active users should be a pretty accurate predictor of loss of revenue. Give customers no reason to look elsewhere for basic to semi-advanced features, make it simple to click a button to buy good filament/accessories that are reasonably priced inside the app, goldmine.
