I started a ticket but just wondering if this might have happened to anyone else.
Also, how long is it taking now a days to get a response in the ticket?
First stage works fine but filament wont advance past or or into the filament hub. Wiki trouble shooting didn’t seem to help. No errors and seems to be the same for all 4 first stages.
Also, is it normal for the first stage to keep trying over and over again to advance the filament? I’d think after a certain time it would figure out something was wrong and trigger an error.
If it matters, AMS is hooked up to a P1P upgraded to P1S.
Have you inspected this area? It sounds like you may have a dag of filament in there, it’ll stop the feed and keep bouncing back and forth in confusion.
@xsynatic None of those would help - the problem is at the filament hub not the buffer - so it doesn’t even make it outside the AMS unit to where those would be placed in the filament path.
@GenericUser I visually inspected all the PTFE connections. And tested the sensors in the hub. But it’s brand new unit - this failure occurred during the first attempt to use it. So if there is something in there blocking the path, it came that way. From what (little) I’ve read, it’s more likely an issue related to the motor at the hub. At least I don’t think I hear it turning on when the first stage advances the filament and it gets to the hub.
While I’m waiting on the ticket, I might try the procedure for opening up and cleaning the hub - although not really all that happy that I should have to do all that for a brand new unit.
@Barryg41 Thanks. I’m fine with a multi-meter. The first stage seems to be working fine and the AMS is recognized by the printer. Maybe I’m missing something, but I wouldn’t think that would help in that case.
True that it never hurts. I have checked the specific connectors for that motor - at least that they were still connected and hadn’t come loose. It couldn’t hurt to actually re-seat those connections.
@xsynatic No worries. Even after all the time I spent going through the wiki, I still have to go back to get all the different part names straightened out.
FYI - Opening and cleaning up the hub didn’t help nor did re-seating the connections.
Hub motor or some part of the control chain to the motor is DOA. Now I guess it’s just a matter of waiting for them to finally get around to responding to the ticket - however long that might take.
I have the exact same issue. Received new AMS on 2/24 and hooked it up on 2/27 to find the same issue you are reporting. I opened a ticket with support on 2/27 and have not heard anything back from them. Seeing as how you might have received your AMS around the same time I wonder if there is a bad batch of hubs. I have three other AMS attached that are working fine - this new one is the only one having any issues.
It’s certainly possible there was a bad batch of something. Not clear if it’s the hub motor, wiring or even possibly something about the control board.
I ordered on the 10th, it was shipped out on the 20th and I received it (and started the ticket) on the 27th.
The first response with any content is obviously automated but replying to that with answers seemed to prompt an actual person to take over. So far nothing but more questions being asked but at least there is interaction happening.
I had to repeat myself about what I’d already done and checked a couple times. But now they are sending me a new hub and motor. Just got the tracking number for the shipment. Hopefully that will do the trick and it’s not a control board problem.
All 4 Ports can be fed to the filament hub and not further.
If the feeder tries to push the filament it will run against the hub and retract. (rinse and repeat). In the process the gears shred the filament to pieces.
Manual pusing of the filament is only possible when pressing the “filament hammer” down manually.
Its a shame that i can´t use my new 3d Printer as i would have hoped.
If you guys find a solution faster then my ticket gets answered, i ll be glad
