This has been happening with all 4 spools. I’ve tried re-inserting the tubing, cutting the filament into points, even trying to help the AMS Lite during the load by manually shoving the filament through the tube as it’s trying to load.
The only thing I can think of that might be going wrong is that I somehow don’t have the tubes in far enough but IDK how to get them in any further.
Since you mentioned it’s a new AMS Lite, measure your PTFE tubes - the longest total length (from the sensor in the feed motor) the AMS will push filament is 1.2 meters. If you’re anywhere close to that, it could be you problem.
Second, make sure your PTFE tubes are cut square on each end, and the ends aren’t crushed at all. Then, make sure the PTFEs are inserted all the way into the 4-into-1; sometimes it can feel like it’s in all the way but if the tube wasn’t aligned with the hole it only goes partway in and doesn’t seat fully.
I just removed and reinserted all of the PTFE tubes, they all looked well cut and in good condition. I inserted them back into place with all the reasonable force I could muster and they all seemed to “click” into place. I attempted to measure one and while it was tough with the bend, it was about 1 meter. Nowhere close to the 1.2 meter limit. I then attempted to load the filament again and all 4 spools failed to load, same issue.
Thanks for the idea, but unless I’m doing something wrong the tubes seem to be fine
Have you replaced the PTFE tubes lately, so with the right size tubes. have you checked if there is any short broken pieces of filament in the or around the hot end, have you checked if the filament sensor components are working the way they should. To me, it sounds like the problem is in the printer head and not the AMS nor the tubes.
The AMS Lite I am using the relatively new (got it 4 weeks ago), and I’m using the PTFE tubes that came with it. I removed all the tubes from the hot end and it looks ok but is there a way for me to make sure? How can I check the filament sensor components?
You were right! Turns out I just had to take some compressed air to the part where the tubes connect with the head and now they’re all loading up no problem. I guess some cat hair got stuck in there. Thanks for the tip!
