There is a new Bambu Studio update:
https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/software/bambu-studio/release/release-note-1-10-2
Is this the new “auth system”
Introduce authorization and authentication protection mechanism: Bambu Studio now supports signing and encrypting control commands sent to printers when the printer supports authorization and authentication protection. The printer will determine whether the commands can be executed.
Don’t know but seems pretty clear…
Won’t make much of a difference though as long you can still run the old firmware on the printer.
But I guess you wanted to state it is the problem now rather than posting it as a question without a question mark ?
Just realised something that I mentioned when all this hype started already caught up with us…
Some people are reluctant when it comes to these new ‘security’ features.
May that be rightful or not, problem now is that we have to make a choice - or no more choices, depending on how you see it.
If you don’t agree with those security changes you can (so far at least) stick with a firmware still free from it.
As long as there is the option to downgrade one can try and go back.
Problems start if you decide the added security stuff isn’t your thing but you still do want the updates and bug fixes…
Sticking to an older version of Studio still works, same for the firmwares.
The time WILL come where the list of bug fixes and minor improvements is long enough to justify a major update of Studio.
And the time Will come where there will be a new firmware that fixes things we still struggle with or that Studio requires you to have a minimum firmware version installed and vice versa.
So far every major company with products requiring a bundled software and firmware forced users to either ‘update or to keep suffering’.
We should be grateful that a Chinese company like Bambu still does not enforce updates like so many western ones do for years.
Give it a while and we will see how all this ends for both sides.
If Bambu really sticks to their pledge of not forcing users to go this route then the time is right for them to explain how we can still have bugfixes and such but go without all this security stuff.
Since all data going through THEIR cloud is encrypted we don’t have any way of knowing what is really transmitted home.
But without the cloud users are intentionally crippled in LAN only mode.
No offence Bambu but I see more questions now than answers…
This version “Bambu_Studio_win-v01.10.02.76.exe” is running, very, very, very slow on my PC. It takes much longer to open .3mf files. Takes longer to switch from “Prepare” to “Device” view in the program. It was running so slow that I re-installed an older version “Bambu_Studio_win_public-v01.10.01.50-20241115162711.exe”.
After reinstalling the older version, the speed issues disappeared.
I am having trouble with the latest Linux Flatpak version (1.10.2.75) from the stable hub in that it can no longer see my A1 mini. If I revert back to 1.10.1.50 (previous version), it works correctly.
Are anyone else seeing this problem. I have switched of updates for the moment for Bambu Studio and will continue with 1.10.1.50.
