Next Printer X1 Carbon or the X1E?

I have a Ender 3 v2 and a A1 Mini. I want to have a printer that can carbon fiber filaments with speed and high quality. I tend to prototype a lot and my other printers can do that fine what is better for final draft X1C or X1E?

My understanding of the X1E (limited) is its desinged with engineering in mind

If you are entertaining getting the X1E, did you think about the Qidi Plus-4?
No AMS (yet), but just as fast, bigger, higher hot end temp, open software architecture,… and much cheaper!

Looks like a good printer.

Have been running a X1E for almost a year now and I can say if you need to run nylon, TPU or even ASA the heated chamber is a godsend. The only potential downside is that you have to buy it from a authorized dealer vs buying directly from Bambu and that they become your first line of support so choose wisely.

I am quite happy with it although I do not yet have much experience with it. Still, got my first PPS-CF benchy yesterday which it printed surprisingly fast.

Hi

Carbon-fiber reinforced filaments entail a large number of filaments with different printing requirements.

The X1E has better specs than the X1C but at a higher cost (almost double).
Unless you specifically need the X1E extra features, the X1C seems a better investment.

What is the difference between the X1C and X1E? You mentioned extra features what are they?

x1e = x1c + RJ45 port + chamber heater + slightly better hotend

x1c = $1300
x1e = $2800

3rd party chamber heater as standalone heater, under $100
x1 plus - give x1c RJ45 port and more, under $100

Recently, BBL tried to cripple x1 plus and 3rd party accessories like BTT touch. Go figure

This is not true.

Not a very tech guy but what is BBL and BTT? And what do you mean Jon?

Assume that BBL = Bambu Lab

BTT is a 3rd party company named BigTreeTech.

The recent controversy has had nothing to do with X1Plus. That had its own controversy a year ago.

Bambu did not try to “cripple” the BigTreeTech (Panda) Touch. BTT was warned over a year ago that the “system” they were using to interact with the printer was going to change. BTT warned their customers the product they were producing might not work with the Bambu printers at some point but continued to produce them. Recently Bambu made moves to start that change.

@JonRaymond
Thanks for the expiation.

What printer would you recommend?

I wouldn’t buy the X1E.

The X1C is a great printer.

If your slicing computer is near your printing area, consider the P1S as it is basically the X1C without the fancy screen.

I have both the X1C and the P1S and my personal recommendation if you are just looking to print stuff, get the P1S with an AMS.

The quality of the prints will be the same from the P1S or X1C.

Good to know that the P1S is pretty much the same as the X1C.

Tried but not success because of the backslash?
Or x1 plus was welcomed by BBL with open arms in the first place?

This needs to be clarified, otherwise people think 3rd party accessory, x1 plus, was not met resistance from BBL.

I’m really having a hard time understanding what your point is but let me expand your quote for more context and clarity.

This is not true.

Nothing has changed with X1Plus in the last year. Anything mentioned about the future of it is pure speculation.

@jwise has an update post regarding that is a good read. Basically boils down to

From what we know right now, there is probably no impact to X1Plus users from this announcement.

My bad to include that in the same sentence, that BBL tried to cripple x1 plus with recent firmware update, is simply not true. You are correct on this.

What I tried to convey is, 3rd party stuffs are not welcomed by BBL.

I should put it

BBL tried to resist x1 plus and recently cripple 3rd party accessories like BTT touch. Go figure

X1 plus was resisted by BBL from the get go. But since x1 plus did not hack the firmware, and it is not custom firmware by nature, BBL had to let it slide.

I think they are just selective with who they collaborate with. Ie E3D.

I have both an X1 and a P1S and I have had a better experience with the P1S. Especially value for money, I would get the P1S.
