No access to MicroSD-Card

When I try to access the micro-sd-card in the device menu in Bambu Lab Studio I get the error message
“Initialize failed(not supportet on the current printer”
The printer is a P1S with the latest FW and the Bambu Lab Studio is also the latest version. It doesn’t matter if I try this as logged in user over the cloud or in the LAN only mode. Might this be a problem of my configuration or is this still not supportet in the printer ? In other word, has any one got access to the micro-sd-card in Bambu Lab Studio on a P1S ?

regards, Ulf

Not supported only works on the X1 series :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Thanks for the answer even of it’s not what I would like to read . May be it will be realized in the future. SDCard acces and filesystems are allready a usual usecase for Espressif controller.

When I had my P1P before moving to the X1C, I used a free FTP to access my P1P memory card, I could move, delete and copy files directly to the micro sd in the printer, you will need the IP address of the printer and the password on the P1P/P1S screen

Thank’s for the hint to use ftp, I found that I have to set the
username: bblp
Password: Accesscode from the WLAN Setting of the printer display
So I even don’t understand that this could not be implemented in the Bambu Lab Studio due to it’s already working with ftp over the same network-connection.
But anyway, I could get the files by not using the sdcard directly because you gave me that hint :grinning:

Glad I found this thread because I just bought another MicroSD card for my P1S (and X1C) thinking the one that came with the machine was bad. Why does it have a slot, and why is there a line for it in the menu screen, if it’s not supported?

Curious - does the P1S not write log files or record timelapse? If I ever have to submit a ticket for the P1S, they’re going to ask for log files and I guess I’m not sure how to get them.

The SDCard is working without any Problems in my P1S. May be something is wrong in your P1S.

On my new P1S SD Card is not working. But Card self is working in my PC. What is correct, its supported or not on P1S?

I can take the SD-Card out of the P1S and put it into the cardreader of the PC and it work’s without any problems (can read an write). Then I can put it back into the P1S and it’s also working (read/write via ftp, . cann see all logfiles) I havn’t got any problems with the SD-Card at all. So in principal it works, if everything is OK.
May be you try an other SD-Card, or may be there are problems with your P1S.

Oh wait, you are talking from FTP, i talk about from Bambu Studio Browser, feature is deactivated by Bambulab :frowning:

This is what I asked in the first post of this thread, and venom answered that it’s only supported in the X1

Check the file storage format of the card. Your computer works with multiple formats, but Bambu printers only work with FAT32, so the card may need to be re-formatted.

See FAQ for Printing from micro SD Card | Bambu Lab Wiki.

If you have a Windows PC, it will not format a card over 32 Gb as FAT32, but there are several free programs that will - Easus Partition Master and Rufus are two.

Card is FAT32 and comes from Bambulab, was already inside. I see the Card in our P1S display but not in BambuStudio and shows this - currently not supported on this printer!

Sadly if you want that feature you need to buy the X1C, you can as I said above download a free FTP app and sideload into the SD card, and I would also remove the BL Micro SD and replace with a big name card, as the BL ones are total ■■■■ and will crash your P1P/P1S.
There are loads of videos online on how to setup an FTP, you will need the IP of your 3D Printer and the password on the screen

Thank you a lot for your workaround. (also @ulf.lanz)

@BambuLab , it should be interesting don’t limit this feature on Bambu Studio. If not, at least, explain very clearly and easy on printer comparison this kind of differences.

It’s pretty clear from the screen and what it says that the current printer version isn’t supported (I have a P1S). Could they be more clear in identifying what models specifically in the notification, sure. Ultimately though, Bambu Studio isn’t made for a single version printer, it’s made for use across all their printers, so functionality that’s not available in some (because of hardware limitations), but is in others, is how a lot of various software works from many different manufacturers out there.

I was disappointed to find this post as I just purchased a P1S. I never found this mentioned when I was reading about the differences between an X1C and a P1S. All I found on differences was the hardened extruder, Lidar, and Metal case. I doubt knowing this would have changed my mind about the printer purchase, but it still would be nice to have a breakdown showing all the differences between the two models.

Neither of you are really missing that much imho, maybe you are from your perspective I dont know … but dont think of it as File Management system - and move of simply a preview and ability to delete. As such, I cant remember the last time i used that SD Card feature, in Studio - on my X1C.

I ‘File manage’ in bulk for videos, timelapse and models via FTP when I need to, and “send to printer, vs PRINT” in bambu studio if I want to store the odd model files.

You cant
-Add, modify, cataogorise or sort

You can
Preview models saved to card
Delete models from card
Print models from card

Download timelapse videos
Delete Timelapse videos

I do hope they improve this feature set in the future, but lower on my list of priortiies for the X1C than say improving the custom filament library options , remote filament options, filament sharing etc etc.

Come on Bambu lab. Please get this fixed, I had the machine for 2 days, and this is very simple things we expect it to work out of the box. It works on my old Prusa.
