No download registred, but succefull print did

So a pint true handy app, doesn’t count as a download?

Yes. It is printed directly through cloud service, and no download happens.

I beg you’re pardon! I don’t want to shoot the messenger but I need to understand this one.

Here is how I see the different download scenarios and how the different counter are incremented

  1. Raw files only (STL, step,…)
    +1 download **

  2. print profile (bambu studio 3mf)
    2.1 Bambustudio
    +1 download **
    +1 print *** ****

    2.2 Handy App
    +1 print ****

**. Only if user logged and daily user download count ≤ 5
*** Only if printed on a bbl printer.
**** Only if successfully printed and the print time is not too short. Only one print per user per model is counted.

Could you tell me if this is correct? Did I missed something?

Yes. You are correct.

To be exact, only success print (except very short period print that target to fraud) will be counted.

Thanks for the reply and the precision

Wouldn’t be better to count downloads on the handy app too? Afterall even if it comes from the cloud, it’s still download. To balance that, a print could count as 1 download instead of 2.

I don’t know, I have the feeling that the current way of counting the downloads might misrepresent the models in the search results when filtering by download.

I believe successful prints in LAN mode are not counted.

Actually, bamby handy does not download the model file. The cloud slicer just fetch model file from the cloud data base, do slicing and sent it to a printer.

Yes. Printing through LAN mode and SD card will not be counted, since the cloud service did not know it happend.

So the printers basicly download the file from te cloud…

What MW appears to count is downloading the files to your computer (for you to do something with later) rather than downloads to their cloud server (that you never see or do anything with).

I get that the printer downloaded the slicer data to print but that what the ‘print’ points were imo.

I understand the technical difference between the two but from the end-user perspective it’s the same thing.

For example before knowing this. I always thought prints where a “percentage” of the downloads. So this could give me an indication on the download to print conversion rate. But that’s not the case at all since there are two different way of counting depending on what you are using, the handy app or Bambustudio.

So even our analytics dashboard are not accurate/meaningful. Some prints are also downloads and some other are just prints.

It’s very confusing tbh, if you could do something about this I think it will be a great improvement, it’s more logical.

@Tanklet, thanks for these quick and informative responses. Can we get some more clarification on the following:

  1. About the 5-download limit

1a) Is this limit applied to all accounts, or only acccounts that exhibit dubious activities?

1b) Do prints count towards this limit? As an example, consider the following: an account downloads one model/print profile to their computer, but then prints two other models using the Handy app. Since each print is treated like 2 downloads, does the account use up the 5 download limit?

  1. If a model is downloaded first and then printed, does it generate the equivalent of 3 downloads, ie. 1 download + 1 print ( 2 downloads)?
