I got my new A1 running for a week now and it’s working mostly great, except for one major problem:
When printing round / cylindrical objects, the nozzle is dragging over the print, which creates a pretty ugly noise. For some reason the prints turn out OK anyway, but the sound is absolutely inacceptable. You can hear it across the entire house when the printer is running at night and you can feel the vibration on the printbed. Has anybody else expierienced this problem so far? Is there already a solution maybe?
I’m seriously considering returning the printer if it’s supposed to be like that. My old Ender 3 Pro didn’t make that much noise.
Thanks.
Ps.: It does that exclusively on round objects and even the infill of those round objects is perfectly fine, but as soon as it starts printing the walls, the show begins …
I have also experienced this issue although not only with round objects. Two questions: What type of filament are you using and when you say that the object is round is it round like a cylinder rising out of the print surface or round like a tube lying on the surface of the print surface?
I know that I usually see the issue with larger thick objects being printed with higher infill percentages. In this case I think the object is warping due to the temperature differential between the print surface and higher layers.
Also I see this issue when I haven’t sufficiently anchored the object to the print surface resulting in it detaching fully or partially and no longer holding the expected vertical position.
Another issues I have encountered is poor extrusion flow due to wet filament. Most filament absorbs moisture to varying degrees. This moisture is converted to steam in the extruder and results in bubbles that disrupt the smooth flow of plastic. This results in globs accumulating on the print head that eventually are dislodged on to the object and subsequently colide with the reurning print head.
Not sure if this is helpful. In all I have been very pleased with the performance of my A1 Mini Combo so much so that I have resently puchased the A1 Combo.
I’m talking about a cylinder rising and it happens right from the start / from the first layer. Also it happens with every filament and I’ve tested several already.
Well will probably be a while until I get my own A1 up and running. If I had a sample of the type of object that is causing the problem then maybe I could reproduce the problem. Not sure about the best way to exchange data.
That’s definitely another problem. You can hear / see that the printer even makes this sounds when the printhead moves freely in the air. In my case the noise is definitely coming from the nozzle touching the print.
If that’s “normal”, I will send the A1 back next week and stick with my Ender 3. The noise is really annoying.
