Faint squeak when print head moves from side to side.
P1S printer V. 01.05.02.00 Latest version
Bambu Studio V. 1.9.7.52
Standard slicer settings (all default)
PLA filament
Fle printed yesterday, and prints perfectly, just that faint squeaking noise.
What I noticed and what I did:
Since this started, I stopped the print, wiped down the carbon rods, and also noticed that the jack screws were black, so cleaned them and re-lubed them with the gold grease that came with the printer when purchased new this past March.
Not really related to squeak but the current version firmware for the P1S is as follows below so you might want to update
Printer: 01.06.01.02
AMS: 00.00.06.44
AMS Hub 4 Port Hub; 00.00.00.43
The squeak has stopped, apparently after cleaning the carbon rods and re-lubbing the jack screws.
Another person has noted that I am out of date on the firmware version, even though Bambu Studio says this is the latest version, and I have not received any messages on the P1S or on Studio regarding firmware updates.
So I checked the wiki for firmware updates, and see that I am several updates behind. In your opinion, Is it safe to make this change? Are there any known “gotchas!” in version 01.06.01.02, the latest version shown on the wiki?
I assume I was who commented about your version. I’m pretty much a noob regarding Bambu Lab so be aware of that.
I think my most recent update is the third I’ve installed since late Sept - early October and have had no problems.
In reference to your comment about Bambu saying you are , every one of my updates were after the machine had been been shutdown for a few hours.
It may be that a cursory “How’s my firmware” check may not truly reach out to the appropriate server unless there has been no back and forth between your printer and their system for some period or Bambu Lab deems an update important and pushes one out.
Lots of malicious software jut trying to get in to ones system every single day and that ain’t no joke.
Yes, the comment was about you, and I appreciate your comment. I am beginning to not trust BBL on some issues, like, posting in studio the out of date firmware versions, this is the second issues in that respect, a few weeks ago, I learned that BBL Studio was several versions behind, and I had to ask someone on this forum “just what the heck version is Studio on” because that information is very hard to find. I have seen several comments on this forum stating that the X1 carbon is running V01.09.xx firmware, whereas my new 2 week old X1 carbon is running V1.08,02.00, I don’t know if I want to update something that may be incorrect…
I also have the P1S, I have no idea what versions of firmware is current on that.
The version I put out in my message, that update was probably 2 - 3 weeks ago.
My version of Bambu Studio is 1.8.7.52
One thing about when updates are rolled out, if the software vendor has messed something up it generally will show up quicky depending on the size of the user base because that user base will immediately start screaming their lungs out via their keyboard.
So like the phrase "No News is good news. No screaming, the updates probably okay.
My squeaking problem was resolved, I thank you for the firmware information, but could you tell me where I can find the latest updates for x1, p1s, and AMS units?
Honestly, I have no idea.
If I were in your shoes, I would right a ticket to tech support and EXPLICITLY state this, this, and this firmware is out of date, my machine won’t update automatically so tell me where the firmware update files are located.
As I type this, I’m thinking, I’m going to do that irrespective if user_3145750058 does, because that is a good thing to know for my benefit.
P1/AMS series firmware releases are documented here:
P1 firmware updates require an internet connection. The most recent version is 01.06.01.02. Updates are not currently available as downloadable files. You should receive a notification on screen:
Turning the printer off and then restarting may force a check for updates.
The X1 printers also require a cloud connection for updates if they are currently on firmware 01.08.00 or older. Once updated to the most current release (01.08.02) future updates can be downloaded and installed offline from an SD card. Those updates will be available here:
Bambu announced in July that offline updates for P1 and A1 printers will be available in the future.
Your update will be in the future
1 month from now and two years from now are equally true with an open ended statement like that.
All of my updates have occurred after my machine had been shutdown overnight so while that might get peoples machines updated, it is a lame way to have to update ones device
In fact I thing earlier in this thread I mentioned shutting down the printer as an option
