P1S printing wood PLA

Hello, I recently got a P1P and since I was thinking in printing wood PLA, I also ordered a hardened steel nozzle, the problem is that then, I realized that there’s also a hardened steel extruder gears, the question I have is, do I need to upgrade the gears for wood printing?

I don’t plan to print using other materials, just PLA and Wood PLA.

Thanks!

I wouldn’t worry about the gears as much as I would the nozzle size. .4mm has a good probability of clogging with Wood PLA.

Wood PLA (at least the ones I tried) is not as abrasive as CF.
As already mentioned, the diameter is critical.

Yet, it all depends on the % of wood. If you print using PLA with 15% to 20% wood, clogs would be less likely, and I wouldn’t worry about wear. It feels like printing regular PLA:

On the other hand, printing PLA with 40% wood is an entirely different game and quite challenging.

Thanks for the answers, the filament I have contains wood flour and PLA, so I guess it’s not very abrasive and I might be able to get away by only changing the nozzle to a hardened steel one and keep the stainless steel gear.

Is this true for Bambu’s too?

I’ve only done a couple of prints with Wood PLA, so not a particularly large sample size, but I got a clog with a 0.4mm nozzle on one of them.

I recently did a print with Bambu PLA Wood and it worked ok with stainless. Didn’t look like wood after, just brownish pla.
