What does the lever under the left side light do, other then just click?
Bought a P2S a shorte while ago and wondered the same, but ended up realizing that it seems to be some mechanical device/safeguard that the printhead triggers when it leaves the print bed towards the realms in the back, since the clicking only happens when filament is purging and/or the nozzle is being cleaned, during calibration etc etc.

I searched for hours about that noise/lever, nothing.
I have a A1 Mini and it’s quiet, this P2S makes all kinds of noise.
I get a lot of complains and I can only run it at certain times. I’m not happy
The noise and not cleaning the nozzle, Bambu is going backward in that area. But ahead in other areas.

It clicks maybe 6 times before it starts printing.

Behind the actual cutter is the mechanism that deploys it. The Grantry (the part where the printhead sits on) activates that mechanism when it moves to the back on the printer.
so every time the printers homes which it does multiple times before pritning, and while moving to the purge shoot etc. activates that mechanism that deploys the cutter (the clack sound you hear).

I really wish bambu had put that lever somewhere else so it doesn’t get deployed all the time. It’s loud and annoying, especially when in the same room.

Still better than having an exclusion area on the buildplate.
It could have been better, but a little noise “to me” is worth the tradeoff.
I’d take the exclusion again. Never bothered or affected me since buying the p1s in 2023.

On second thought…
They could have easily placed the filament cutter with the same mechanism in the front of the case. That would have avoided triggering it constantly during homing.
Bothered me a little more. Though it was really not that big of a deal. On some full build plate prints (with files intended for the A1), I would have to go in and change stuff around to make it work. Only a slight annoyance, but I am glad they got rid of it.
I recommend soundproofing because that’s not even the loudest thing the P2S does by a wide margin. Amazon sells 30cm x 30cm panels in 25mm and 50mm thicknesses that dampen sound pretty well.
That’s exactly what i was thinking when i said i wish they would’ve put it somewhere else.
Already done that. Still louder than my p1s by a good marging.

I have no idea how loud other brands are, my A1 mini is quiet, it’s open, no enclosure.
If I had to do over, I would have gone with the A1. I’ll have to work around it, in the end it will be better. Just have to regroup.
