P2S Heatbed Firmware issue

Hey all,

After updating my P2S to the newest firmware my heatbed won’t heat any longer. I tried to install the update multiple times, made a factory reset and tried literally everything.

When I revert back to the older version it’s working again. Does anybody have the same issue? I think it’s a firmware bug, but I cannot find anything about it.

The error I receive is [0300-0100-0001-0008 000912]

I didnt have that error but i posted about a bed issue i had after the update where the nozzle would print find in the back of the bed but moving it toward the front left it the nozzle would collide in to it. Did bed leveling and everything, different print, same issue until I reformatted the machine and redid everything. I’ve only done one print since doing that but it completed fine. Seems like there are a few hidden bugs happening here and there. Seems like you already tried the reformat route though.

I am also getting a heatbed issue after i updated. Will try rolling back the update.

It did not fix it for me. :worried:

I have the same, rolled back the previous version solved the issue. This needs to go back to the Lab

I have the same issue, have been forced to rollback my update twice.

I wonder if this is why my ASA is warping on the corners while everything is fine on my P1S.

BambuLab support replied to me now that it may be a hardware issue?
Don’t understand: the heatbed works fine with the firmware the P2S was shipped with. After the firmware update it gives an heatbed error. When trying to print, it says it is not warming up. Rolling back the firmware solved the issue.
So I was expecting a firmware fix. Hm. Anyone else experiencing this?

I had a similar issue with the heated bed cutting out after a couple of minutes following a firmware update. Unchecking the “Idle heating protection” under Settings->safety options on the printer itself solved this. Think this was unchecked in the firmware the printer was delivered with, but then with the new firmware update it was checked by default.

For me it’s the exact same issue, but in my case support is saying that it’s a firmware bug and it will be fixed with the next update

Hi all thanks for your replies. Bambu support tells me it is the actual Heatbed itself and will send a new one.
It sounds very strange to me. As far as I know the heatbed contains a mains heating element and a temp sensor. From what I can tell there is no electronics logic in the bed itself. And why would it work fine with the previous firmware?
But who am I to judge the expert advise, so naturally I will follow the advice.

Keep you posted and any experience with this appreciated!

Ok…as expected the firmware issue had nothing to do with the Heatbed itself..

Why would it? The heatbed is a mains heating element and a NTC for the temperature control. And it worked (and works) fine with the previous firmware.

As I wanted to avoid cost (for Bambu as this is warranty, the machine is a couple of weeks old) and a complex repair I asked if they were sure. The answer was that the Lab acknowledged this.
Well a complex replacement it is! It took me more than 2hours and I doubt if someone less technical is able to do this.

To remove the heatbed earth connection it is necessary to remove the side panel, and to remove the side panel you need to remove the front panel… that involves removing the display, the wifi antenna, the led strip and a lot more. For someone reading this and need to do the same: You can avoid it as the screw for this earth cable connection is reachable by pushing the side panel outside. Not easy either but saves a lot of other complexity.

Also the cable of the heatbed is held by metal strips on the Z-axis block. They are difficult to remove and it is quite a challange to get the cable neat back again and not to have it pinched by these strips.

Anyway, still puzzling why this firmware related heatbed issue is not reported more often. So maybe the heatbed controller board is the cause. That could make a little bit more sense though I still expect it is just something they need to resolve this in the firmware.

Anyway….will be continued …

I had the same problem, spoke to Bambu support. They concluded its the problem of heat-bed and sent me replacement. Not an easy task to replace it and the unfortunate part the bed is still not functioning. I rolled back the firmware with replacement heat bed installed, its functioning again. I suspect its both hardware and firmware issue. There must’ve been a sensor or an IC that’s either missing physically in a particular production batch or firmware not recognizing those due to mismatch of Sensor/IC . I was looking to buy the AC board myself to see if it fixes the problem but they are all sold-out. I will update if I get anything back from Bambu.

Hey Prawin, thanks for your reply!

Prior to the replacement of the heatbed, I measured the heating element and NTC resistance of both heatbeds. (the existing and the new one). Both readings are in a reasonable range (not more than 1ohm delta), hence the reason I doubt it would solve the issue. And even then, as the hardware is working fine with the old firmware I think there is where the investigation/fix should be.

Get a machine with the issue in the LAB investigate and make a fix. Report it as a known error (with certain models?) As the previous firmware is running, advice users to downgrade and wait till a fix becomes available.

If it is a hardware issue it is more likely that it is in a logic board like the heatbed AC/controller board. (hmm the reason they are soldout?)

Anyway, the good thing of this all is that Bambu responds quite well and I have the feeling they do the upmost to solve the issue. The P2S machine is very well build and even it is a previous firmware, it is doing it’s job great.

I trust Bambu will solve this, keep you posted.

Solved!

After contact with Bambu Support they’ve sent me a new MC board.

That replacement was not too difficult, be carefull not to make a mess with the thermo paste and swapping over the connectors. The NTC from the heatbed is one of them

Next I did the firmware update, and the heatbed now works fine with the new firmware.

I had the same issue—P2S upgraded firmware at the same time I installed my AMS HT.

Heat bed would not heat at all (stayed at 20*c).

Downgraded to 01.01.01.00

Heatbed worked fine.

Solved mine as well. Bambu was saying we are working on exploring firmware bugs to resolve issue. Thanks to your update, I have requested Bambu for send me replacement MC board. Received new board yesterday replaced it and its working fine now.

@user_15169216 can you elaborate on “accessing the earth ground screw by pushing the side panel outside”? I have to do this job now, but am dreading the side panel removal. Which side panel screws need to come out to be able to push the side panel enough to access that screw?

The Bambu Lab Wiki had extremely detailed disassembly guides for all parts on your printer.

I have seen the wiki for this procedure, but it is EXTREMELY involved, when it comes to full removal of the side panel. The previous poster mentioned that this one screw is accessible without having to remove the entire side panel, so i wa hoping for some guidance on this “shortcut”.
