P2S, switching from GT2 belts to GT1.5 or even GT1 (VFA)

Hey guys,

Ive been reading allot about VFA lately, tried many things on my P1S, and now having the same struggle with my P2S with VFAs. Due to the lack of space (and money) i dont feel like spending an extra 1000 bucks for -better- print quality, like on the H2D.

I think i have a solution that might work, after reading trough allot of comments and posts; changing from the 2mm belts to 1.5 or lower to get rid of those nasty marks on straight walls. The H2D seems to use 1.5, which makes them allot less visible.

Has anyone ever tried to switch their belts on the P1S, X1C or the new P2S to get similar results as on the H series when it comes to VFAs? Including everything else that would be needed, like different toothed pulleys on the stepper motors.

It’s easy to do on printers with Klipper. But how do you tell the OS in P2S that it now has a different pitch per motor revolution?
For example, a 20-tooth pulley with a 2mm belt is 40mm/rev. And a 26-tooth pulley with a 1.5mm belt is 39mm/rev.

I think… i hope that the drive pulleys from the H Series have the same diameter as the ones from the P series. Basically just plug and play, or am i overseeing something?

Im already in touch with Bambulab, lets see what they answer.

The mm/rev calculation above answers it. Unless you want to switch out the main board, this is a dead end, it looks like.

Yes, its possible, but you need to buy new gear parts (the ones that latch onto your belt) to put onto your stepper motors, and you need to modify the toolhead.
