Poop Chute Curiosity

I’ve noticed recently that poop gets stuck at the top of the chute and I have to give it a push so it slides down. I’ve read that the small piece if aluminum adhered to the front of the chute solves this problem, but I’m wondering if that is true. There was no aluminum on my X1C but I see it in videos, photos… It also got me wondering what the 2 parts inside the poop chute are for. I can’t find any info on the small “pendulum” hanging off the inside back or the “trap door” inside the chute. Can anyone educate me?

Ive seen videos of people just using metal foil tape like a 1 inch by 1 inch square that prevents the filament from sticking to the chute. There is definitely a small square of something on mine, yours could be missing from the factory or just fell off at some point.

From watching my printer that little pendulum is connected to a door. When the print head moves to wipe the nozzle on that bit of PTFE tubing it kicks open a little door allowing the filament to fall.

I’m pretty sure I saw this discussed before here and the metal square may have been deleted. The purpose was to keep hot filament from melting into the chute but it might be unnecessary.
