Power lead caught on fire

So you paid in advance first?

Just wonder, those who won’t use printer until replacement will arrive, you still can print with cold bed using PLA, isn’t it?

I guess you could, but the question is: printing without heating may still provide power to the bed and when the cable breaks you’re still in a world of hurt…

I did opt for a replacement bed by the way. We’ll see what this will bring. I already checked what needs to be done if the bed isn’t level after the swap. It looks simple enough, but with a bit of luck it’ll be good without tramming the bed.

Someone on reddit found the Y moto cable is crushed by the inner plastic shell. https://www.reddit.com/r/BambuLab/comments/1akf7ed/bad_heatbed_cable_and_y_motor_cable_inside_the_a1/

It likely won’t start a fire, but it looks like there is a few wiring problems.

Unfortunately, I can’t understand the problem that some people have here…

It has become known that the cable for the heating bed can cause a problem and that some people have already had the problem.

BL responded by ensuring that everyone could print their own heated bed cable protector before sending one out, just to be on the safe side.
The only drawback is that I haven’t received one yet.

Because the cable is probably causing more problems than previously thought or to prevent something even worse, BL has asked that the A1 printers not be used for the time being.
But some people probably don’t stick to it because they probably know better.

To solve the problem, BL has provided two options that are clearly defined for me and do not require any further discussion.

But somehow that just doesn’t seem to be enough for some and gives rise to speculation that, in my opinion, is far-fetched and not at all proven.

Demanding discounts so that you can get a much better device at a lower cost is far from reality.

Because I’m very happy with what BL has offered here.
I personally accept the offer and will send the device back because I am unable to replace a heated bed for health reasons.
And the electronics technicians who could help me because of their profession are already taking advantage of the problem and charging more for it than the $120 discount gives.

And you should put yourself in BL’s shoes and then honestly say whether you would be able to cope with such surprising damage.

And for this reason too, I simply cannot understand the problem with the situation.

As a small addendum, I would like to add that I will purchase the P1S Comco system once everything has been completed.
Because I was completely satisfied with the printer and will probably be with the P1S too.
The only thing that really bothers me is the fact that unfortunately I can’t get the filament that I would like and that I would also get cheaper through the membership process.
Because the colors I would like are constantly sold out.

That cable being “crushed” is a not an issue. I’ve seen this in so many electronics… because they like to keep things tight in a small space and this happens. It’s only the insulation that is bent and those aren’t the cables that move, so no issue there. It’s not like at some point in time it will cut through them, since everything is static.

Anyway, for the people speculating on the main cable issue, if the cables stops at the entrance or on, there is an official video tutorial on how to change the heatbed and it has better angles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yj2kobWheuY

Thanks for the heads up.

I figure at worse this problem is easy to fix because they can just make a channel for the cable.

Still on the fence here. I really like my A1, but the chance to upgrade to P1S is intriguing. I just don’t know if it’s worth the trouble and the extra money.

I mainly went refund route because I thought that would be quickest to get me up and running again. The longer this goes with no shipping label to send it back, the more I am regretting not going with option 2.

when did they say you’ll get the shipping label?

They havent, no response to my ticket yet.

i eliminated the problem altogether, my printer wires are all hanging off the edge and go right to a socket instead of against a wall, it is on an island.

If you’ve submitted the form where you select option 1 or 2, then keep waiting and they will get to it eventually.
I guess it will depend on region, but FWIW, I’m in the UK and I received my shipping label a few hours ago.
The only action I’ve taken during this whole recall is complete that option1/2 form, I’ve not opened any tickets or chased them up, just done exactly what they said -which is mostly just waiting patiently.

Thank you, I was flipping out over the shipping costs associated with the return. The estimate was $260!!

Not much will happen in the next few days if the recall processing comes from China.
Because the New Year is from February 9th to February 15th, as I heard from my employer today.

This company doesn’t take many customers seriously anymore, I’ve had a ticket open since January 28, 2024 and now no real response from a real person, just auto-message bots.

GG.

I do, If your experienced in electronics not hard at all… You can see what I did here

There is a link in the post for a printed grommet because you will destroy your in the process of getting the control wires free

my parents won’t let me run my Bambu lab a1 printer over night cuz there scared it will Catch fire but I did some research and its very rare for a fire to happen but that doesn’t mean its impossible like this user showed and if your reading this if your print isn’t good or bugged it might be because you sped it up or the file
