Anyone seen this one already: A1 Recall Update
I get the feeling BL is still not telling the whole story. It seems we can all return our A1 printer for a full refund and receive a $80 discount on another printer (P1 or X1).
Not a word on return shipping compensation. You can also wait (until May!?) for a new heat bed and receive a voucher of $120 in compensation for the wait time…
Option 2 states March, but I suspect it will take longer:
(expected around the end of March…
I’m currently leaning toward this option but their statement of applicability for the $120 is conflicting between the recall note and the registration page. They state: valid for any product in our online store but then, on the registration page it says it is based on the policy noted in the store (I can’t quote it as I already completed the registration and it’s no longer available). It may not be a big deal, and time will tell I suppose. Challenge is I already bought a bunch of filament and spare parts for my A1! I would likely use it for more filament, but they already offer a discount on them (6 months after purchase), so it begs the question if they will allow this voucher to stack on top of other discounts. My hope is it’s basically a credit vs a voucher. I know, could be wishful thinking, but just throwing ideas out there to pass the time…
You contact them and they pay for return shipping, new heatbed will be at the end of March, don’t know about the voucher though.
In May people will be able to order them again the the store.
But what does full refund mean? what about parts like Nozzle kit bought with it? Its not clear at all about shipping.
This is what their website says about refunds in general. Based off this it sounds like we wouldn’t be refunded original shipping/taxes and then might have the refund reduced for return shipping? If thats the case then basically the $80 is going to be break even for shipping/taxes so not really getting a discount on new machine then.
Refunds
Once we issue a refund, it can take up to 7 days for it to reflect in your original payment method. The original shipping charges and shipping fee tax will not be refunded.
If you choose to use the return label provided by us, the cost of return shipping (see appendix 1) will be deducted from your refund.
So, they basically trying to force you towards a replacement head bed: if you return your A1 you lose your shipping cost twice: the original order and the return cost. If you purchase another printer (or an A1 later on) you pay shipping again. What a rip off…
Thats exactly how i see it. I spent a total of $477 for the A1 when you include shipping, sales tax and nozzle kit. So I will only be getting $380 refunded?
On Reddit the official BL account said:
Hello, Bambu Lab will cover the return shipping costs for the printer if you choose a return and refund option.
If I end up with a refund for the A1 combo, minus my original shipping costs (but not the return cost) plus $80 then I’m happy. Also have some gift cards from maker world so when the A1 is back I can rebuy it with a nice big discount!
So I just read the recall announcement and it only given instructions for refund and return on printers purchased and shipped by bambu labs. So what about those of use that bought our printers at Micro Center? I did but its not as simple as returning it since I bought it while I was in Dallas, 300 miles away, and its not like its a simple drop it off for a return thing for me. Do i get the option of returning or opting in for a bed replacement? Should I submit a ticket inquiring? Ill admit I haven’t went to the recall page yet as Im not at home to do so and i hate doing these things on my phone.
Honestly Im fine to just wait for the replacement heat bed assembly as its not like I dont have other printers in the shop. Sucks that I have a paperweight sitting on the rack but its better then a fire.
Ups I don’t think it is a good move! but you’re right I never realized That
and I know artilery machines I have fixed several
ups
I am happy with the heatbed solution and the 120 voucher. Will keep the printer and use the AMS Lite with my mini.
Wish the recall registration or blog would have that in there somewhere about shipping. Doesnt look like they are answering any questions about a1 parts on reddit.
Overall waiting seems to be the best option financially but it is a long wait.
I saw a response from Bambu on facebook that they will be issuing free return labels. It was in the comments of their official announcement post.
For me, returning the printer is very complicated. I live on an island, and I bought the A1 through a logistics company. Keeping it in exchange for a €120 discount and fixing it myself? It could be the easiest option, but I’m not so sure that it doesn’t have more defects that might surface in the future. In fact, I have issues with my extruder and was considering fixing it myself until this whole cable issue exploded. And an €80 discount for the revised A1 several months from now, where we also don’t have the guarantee that it will return at the same price we bought it a couple of months ago… A difficult decision, at least for me.
Also doing the wait for heatbed route over hear; thankfully I’ve done a lot of DIY stuff so I should be able to do this. Bummer that I’ll have to wait for the discount, but it is a nice one!
Had my A1 just over a week, my heat bed cable has a 90 degree turn to the left, i had to buy a new left angled power cable replacement because my bed cable was rubbing against the power cable as it moved back and fourth, i have printed the bambu cable protector but don’t like that bend in the cable it just don’t look safe to me, does anyone know what would be involved in replacing the bed and cable ?
They are ALL being recalled. If you bough from Bambu directly you should have an email by now, I think those that bought from resellers like Microcenter also had emails.
Same, push notice on the handy app and also an email notice twice.
Same, here.
- not sure why folks start new threads for the same regurgitated info.
- I opted for a refund and plan on the X1-C so since there is an option to add more order numbers, I added the order numbers for my accessories with a note that I will be returning the nozzles and keeping the filament.
Yea returned mine and bought p1s combo on Friday
What is the estimated shipping time for you?
