Prevent troll comments

I think it is necessary to prevent comments under Troll model that do not print the model and leave comments (without ratings), stupid and offensive. Above all, it is necessary because the activity of reporting harassing comments is not efficient and sometimes weeks pass before it is removed.

@makerworld

I would propose two solutions:

1 OR Prevent those who do not print the model from commenting

2 OR Allow the creator to delete comments from users who have not printed the model, so that the creator himself can delete inappropriate comments.

I’m a little tired of reporting users who write offensive or silly comments just for fun or to create damage to their image.

I think the creator should have some control at least over useless comments from users who don’t even print the model. In this way the maker can already delete the silly comments and keep the useful or at least non-offensive comments active,at the same time it would lighten the workload for Support that is unable to follow up on all reports

Can you provide any examples? I haven’t gotten any dumb comments, just reviews.

Stupid comments like:

“you are not good at modeling”
"Your models suck "
“your nickname is stupid”
…

Here are some examples

Yeah those should easily be reportable or directly deletable by you, the designer. Perhaps you can delete them and then they get added to a queue. If MW decides that you shouldn’t’ve deleted it, they can restore it. Otherwise it’s gone for good. And also a penalty for that stuff. And AI filtering.

I have 2700 followers and unfortunately in the quantity there is always some stupid person having fun, maybe already blocked previously. Create a new account and leave offensive comments.

Sorry to hear that you’ve had this experience. I’ve had some bad comments as well, but they are always removed in a reasonable timeframe if they are reported.

I don’t agree that this is the way to handle it though. I have plenty of makers that ask questions before printing the model. This may also lead to people deleting any criticism which should be welcomed.

In fact, as suggested by @Zammer3D you can delete the offensive or inappropriate comment, secondly the staff will calmly check whether it actually needs to be deleted or if not offensive, restored.
Too many reports are no longer handled, before they were deleted in 2 days at most, now you have to wait even 2 weeks or they are not handled at all.

Anyone who wants to ask something can always use private messages, while anyone who printed the template has the right to criticize.

Just a note, limiting comments to verified prints would also stop people who did print the listing, but used private LAN mode.

Are you for real??? :astonished:

Those who print in private mode cannot even leave star ratings from the start.
Also as stated above, if it is not an offensive comment, @makerworld would ultimately have the final say and could restore the comment if it is relevant to the model and not offensive or vulgar.

… yes, unfortunately, and these are the softest ones.
I’m honestly tired of these idiots and trolls

Yep. But I think they can currently comment, right? Just reminding that you’d just be taking comment permissions away if you locked it down more. Maybe that is fine, it’s our choice to use privacy mode or not, but you’d be effectively locking LAN mode users out of the commentary part of the site completely, forever.

Not saying that junk comments like those you posted should be tolerated either; I just don’t know of a great solution other than the major effort of adopting some Stack Exchange like system of self moderation (and even that has its issues).

No, you didn’t understand .
Users may comment, there are also those who print models without having a Bambulab, but if it is a comment outside the print profile, the creator should have the right to delete the troll comments (except those using the print profile remaining unchanged with the reporting to MW) with the methods explained above.

Oh… I got distracted multi-tasking and when I came back to this page, I mis-remembered the original suggestion as “cannot comment at all”, so sorry about that. Maybe I’m getting past an age where I can multi-task effectively…

You’re just asking for “un-verified” comments to be removable by the listing author. Yeah that is probably okay.

But I would like to suggest that if you’re going to ask for a more polite MW comments section, it’s probably a good idea to remember to set a polite example here, too, right?

Sorry, but do you want to start a controversy?
Since when is writing “read better” rude??

I am using a translator and I am not writing in my native language, the translator translates “live” what I write.

If you want I can communicate in Italian, Russian, Ukrainian and Japanese without a translator, but for English, I’m sorry, I can’t.

Perhaps the answers should be interpreted better before making inappropriate jokes, especially if a serious topic is being discussed.

I’m sorry you interpreted my words that way.Let me rephrase:

Read better what I wrote, nobody prevents people who print in LAN from writing messages, but moderation by the creator of the “post” is required on any offensive and useless comments, under further control later, at the request of the person who wrote the message, of moderation by @MakerWorld if the message was deleted unfairly.

I hope I was clearer, I don’t speak English and I hope you will avoid other sarcastic comments, there is no need.
A thousand thanks

It just kind of read like that to me–sorry if that wasn’t the intent. I promise I’m not trying to be intentionally rude! Your initial post was clear enough. The misread was entirely on my part for getting distracted before I replied, and I think you have a valid point.

Just the hazards of written comms I guess – hopefully we’re cool now?

Of course it’s fine for me, I don’t want to be rude and I’m sorry if I can’t express myself correctly in English, probably the translation can be misinterpreted.

No, your English is fine. I just need to focus better here, and apparently I should dial down the jokes a little.

On the bright side, at least this bumped your topic to the top a few times.

Could you link the models with those nasty comments? If we all report them it should speed up the removal.

I would not like to report my makerworld profile, to avoid retaliation. I have already had to close a profile for a similar situation. I probably have a troll magnet. I wish there was an option as described in the post
