If a shipment left China last week, you would have paid the Tariff in advance because nobody knew that they were going to be lowered. So if that shipment arrives in the US on Friday of this week, a refund of the difference between the old tariff and the new tariff would be applied.
The Tariff is applied at the Port of Entry. That’s why if it changes between ordering it and when it gets into the country, a refund is warranted.
A lot of retailers order in advance by about 3 months. That’s why prices on shelves had not necessarily gone up yet but would be as soon as new stock came into the country and went on shelves at Walmart, Etc.
From what I see, they are going off what day it hit your doorstep. Not really what day it hit the port. Also the refunds are being given for items that have obviously already gone through a port. At that time, bambu obviously didnt pay a tariff, or else they wouldnt be refunding money. It was obviously a charge that bambu was doing in advance of the 2nd round if tariffs actually taking affect.
Otherwise, bambu would not be refunding money, because the ship hit the port before it was announced that the 2nd round of tariffs would be taken away for 90 days.
If it was never announced, they would have kept the money paid for tariffs that hadnt taken affect. Proven by the fact that they are now refunding some of that money.
Tariffs dont start the second orange man announces it on tv.
Cant be both ways. Either bambu paid a tariff because it was in affect at the time of sale. Or They didnt pay a tariff and are now refunding money because of it.
But only refunding money of combo purchases. Meaning they are keeping the rest of the money paid for tariffs that they never had to pay. On things like filament and accessories
Very true. I mean you’re not totally wrong. One would argue that they shouldn’t have raised the prices on some of the older printers because they should have had stock inside the US.
I guess I’m not sure that will ever have a real answer.
You know, I hadn’t thought about it. But I purchased a couple locomotives, DCC items, RC components(motor, flybarless controller, speed control, some lipo batteries, servos and a helicopter kit), and none of them went up in price… I was looking at decoders for one of my locos, and the prices are right where they’ve been… And some of the RC airplane sites/companies that I buy their kits(these are the gasoline sized models). These kits come from China, and their prices haven’t gone up, since the pandemic times(which they raised and then lowered).
So, I discussed with my wife, and she was like “send it back unless they refund your difference”… And I said, the only reason I won’t, is because, with my luck, I would end up with a bad unit. But Bambu needs to do something, because that’s a ton of Chinese imports, and none… Not one… Even PC component prices, they’re still the same(not pre built machines, but like hard drives, RAM, motherboards, etc)…
Nothing went up, except the Bambu devices… For my spending and hobbies at least… I also purchased an AMS2 pro from my local microcenter, and it’s price was elevated. And this was yesterday evening… While I’m not upset or angry, it makes me question the reasoning, when none of these others raised a thing…
The prices should never be as before unless the administration flips back fully which I don’t think will happen during this term. The 90 day pause on tariff at 30% is already 10% more than it was before and the non-tariffed de-minimis is gone so unless China manifacturers or US importers eat the difference (they could for some of it I guess), the prices will stay a little over what it was before.
The concern will be after these 90 days, I would be very surprised there would be any lower. The deadline with the EU will be reached first, it will be a good indication of the mindset of the administration on how things could develop with China although I think impact of China imports is more than EU’s.
The tariffs were 100% in effect. Companies have shown the tariffs they paid upon import from China, and they were 145% of the declared value of the items. This is also why no container ships and empty containers were coming into US ports, because the tariffs were in effect and not many companies wanted to import.
If the items you ordered from other companies were already in the US, then the prices wouldn’t necessarily increase. Tariffs are only paid at the port when they come in. If there was adequate stock already in the US, prices wouldn’t be affected.
Bambulab printers have been in and out of stock, so one would assume they have been actively importing. Their prices didn’t go up anywhere near 145%, otherwise an H2D would have been $4000 with no AMS. So they raised prices on the ones they have in the US already to compensate for the ones they have on the water that haven’t reached a port yet to spread the cost of tariffs out so they don’t have to sell a base printed for $4000.
If the items you were ordering from other companies were items that sell fast, then they would have likely gone up in price, or just be out of stock because they didn’t want to import any when tariffs were 145%.
Well, if you notice, it’s not money they’re giving out, it’s gift cards, so you have to spend it with them, the prices are still higher than originally, and it only applies to orders received on or after May 2nd.
Also, it’s only for printers and AMSes. Any other item doesn’t get you a gift card refund.
The printer/AMS package must have been received on or after May 2nd (including packages still in transit), and the order must have been placed before May 15th at 5PM PST (price adjustment time).
No returns or refunds initiated for this order.
Only purchases of printers or AMS qualify for this application."
It doesn’t say Printer AMS combo, it says “Printer/AMS” and “Printer or AMS.”
There two things to take into consideration with the tariffs
one is bambu lab ship directly from china unlike a lot of other companies who rent warehouse space and pay a commision to amazon ,
Two tariffs were forced on them and changes in price were echoed through registered stores (american) as well as with suppliers who would not of recieved items until tariffs came into force
I agree, but when the container ships arrived, and no tariff was charged, they should have refunded money right away. Instead, they turned it into gift cards we can apply for. And only on printers/ams
The tariff obviously wasnt charged, or there would be no gift cards
It covers printers that arrived on the 2nd. These printers were sold a couple weeks before that. The announcement was 4 days ago(10 days after receiving printers), but were those tariffs ever actually in affect? If so, why gift cards? Seems like they never paid a tariff on the 2nd ish or they are feeling generous and giving out free gifts.
Seems obvious that the 2nd round of tariffs never actually hit bambu. Only bambus customers. Based on the facts in front of us.
Like I said, I defended them before. But, the gift cards are kinda them admitting to not having to pay the tariff on the 2nd. Well before trumps announcement. Unless we think the U.S. government is refunding the tariff amount back to chinese companies
No way that Bambulab does air freight at that shipping cost. If Bambulab was drop shipping printers and AMS directly to people’s homes, the people would have to pay the tariff before they could even receive it.
My printer shipped from New Jersey. Why do you believe they shipped from China? Temu ships direct from China on many items, and customers were having to go to the Post Office to pay the tariff of 145% to pick up their “cheap” items.
