Printer Table Choices & Their Importance

Hello Makers!

I purchased my Bambu X1C about a month ago and so far, it’s been a joy to use. I think it’s pretty clear that the speed race is on between the big brands.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the faster you want to run your prints, the more important the platform upon which the printer sits becomes. As a quick stop gap I have been using a pretty beefy solid wood nightstand, with a 15"x15"x2" concrete block on the top and the printer sits on said block.

When the printer runs it’s very clear that there is significant wobble action going on. I know we can run calibration and input shaping will help a lot, but I think there is only so much those crutches can help and it’s time to really pay attention to what the printer sits on.

So my questions to the community are:

1- How important is the weight/stability of the platform this printer sits on?
2- How did you solve for this and what are you putting your printers on?

Thanks in advance for the input!
