I have started a model with two different filaments. On the first, using a Silk PLA the purge lines printed and some brims for the support printed, but nothing for the model. The second was with Sunlu PLA and only the purge lines printed (no support needed for model) and then nothing for the model. The filament loads successfully and I receive no messages while the print head moves through the air. Because I’ve not had any problems printing since I received my P1S, as soon as I saw the purge lines on the first attempt, I let it go. When I checked almost halfway through, the print head was quite happily going through the motions several inches above the bed, but no filament, not even good old spaghetti. Any ideas what to check or do to be able to print again would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
It’s hard to guess at an answer without understanding what it is you’re trying to print. Can you provide a screengrab of the sliced model?
There are a couple of possible theories. The first being a known bug. If Studio senses that there are empty layers in your model, it will refuse to print. Empty layers are where one object is raised above another without supports. Now this is supposed to be blocked but I have seen cases where when I change the filament or move the model below the plane, the safeties do not kick in and I get “Air Print” like you described.
But then I’ve also gotten “Air Print” when the filament broke and the extruder didn’t sense it. So there is more than one reason. Again, if we could see the intended sliced model, it might give us a hint.
I have tried 2 models. The first was the dragon attached which i have never printed before. The second is the AMS Desiccant Holder also attached. The dragon i tried with a silk plan i haven’t used before. The desiccant holder I’ve printed a few times with the Sunlu PLA and that is why I tried that combo again for my second atttempt.
Thank you for your help.
Try the Orca slicer and see if you get the same result.
