Right, it would have been nice to have an optional filament choice. But also, Bambu Lab didn’t have to hand out anything for free. It was a kind gesture that has no doubt came back to bite them with all of the additional support requests it probably generated.
I received mine just about 2 weeks ago. Would be nice to give a voucher to those who bought at least in the 1 month window prior to price drop but I doubt they would. Have to see what they do.
Price sounds like 600 and change, although it was “699” but with tax and shipping, (I added the few extras like .6 hot end assembly, and steel gear assembly) which made my total to almost $900. Ah how easy it is to spend money. But so far I am happy with my printer.
The new P1S is a second hit. Some of us have spent money on the enclosure and now being shown we bought way too soon. For me 4 months later, I’ll be buying the kit to convert, but that means I will have spent $1100 on a P1P and enclosure (only including enclosure costs and upgrades, not the nozzle, and other optional pieces). Ouch. I get it, they are listening and giving us what we wanted initially, but these miss-step corrections cost us money. I’m a big boy, so I’ll call it “my mistake”, but this will change how I view Bambu.
I’m still Team Bambu, but I will NOT be on the front end of anything they put out (non consumables). Lesson learned.
It sure has generated additional support requests. I have not received a code even though I bought a P1P in May, 2023 (the code was supposed to arrive July 4). I sent a request to customer service and have not heard back.
Unfortunately, I bought a P1P in May and have not received a discount code yet for the filament. I have no idea why and have submitted a customer support request. I have not heard back (its been a few days), but I’ll share what they tell me.
Yeah that P1S was quite a surprise for me too. When I bought the P1P I got the glass door and lid for it as well and every upgrade part available.
I even bought the AMS using the coupon code they recently sent out and now the upgrade kit isn’t even worth buying for me, because I’ve got everything besides the front cover, side panels and rear cover. Getting them separately will be cheaper for me. But my “P1S Combo” will be significantly more expensive even considering the two rolls of PLA-CF for $1.99. The price difference from P1S to P1S Combo is about $250 for the AMS, which comes without additional shipping cost (because it ships inside the printer). I had the discount code for the AMS and paid substantially more even with these two discounts. If there was such a bundle with the P1P I would have gotten that.
Last time I contacted support also took quite a while before I even got a message explaining that it would take some time for their response. I suppose the recent news make it very hard for them to keep up. BUt you need to make sure to submit your request via the official channels, since they explained that they won’t handle requests via email.
BTW Noxoreos, and kenneth.info, I’m still waiting on the email for the filament too. Mine purchased in early March '23.
So, I’m expecting there are a lot of people in front of us, at least in the US.
I don’t think that’s much of a factor. I bought mine end of last month just before the anniversary event was announced and I already received both the codes and by now already received the filaments.
According to the announcement, the code to get the filaments for everyone who bought it this year between january and june should have been sent out on july 4th, which is when I received it. The code for the ams discount I got a few days earlier.
I bought my P1P earlier this year and I haven’t received a code.
I wrote this in a different thread as well:
I have just bought an anniversary P1P with upgrade kit and an AMS. Being there was no bundle deal I paid the full 350 for the ams which makes the total higher than what I would have paid for the P1S.
The only difference was the hardened gear and nozzle of the upgrade kit.
I could have added that to the P1S order and still would have been cheaper.
I think they should give out a panel kit for recent buyers similar in what they have done with the aux fan/camera or the more recent anniversary.
You’ve had your P1P for 4 months and got to use and hopefully enjoy it. Companies will always update and add to their product range. I really don’t understand why you’d be upset at this. You can sit and wait for the next thing but then the world passes you by.
Well i bought mine last Sunday and received it on Tuesday, to find that P1S was released on Wednesday. If i buy all the upgrade parts + Gold PEI Plate i spend 200 euros, and if i buy the P1S it’s only 100 euros more than the price i bought my P1P kind of bad timing in my purchase i guess.
Currently waiting for the support team to tell me if there is any type of discount on the upgrade parts xD
I guess we disagree about these things. I’m definitely not happy, but I do understand why a company would do this. Not the action I would take, but I fully understand an overwhelming part of the population would. It just makes sense when you are trying to maximize potential income. But, it leaves people like me with a bad taste.
But I’m sure they thought this through, they are actually rocket scientists. That’s not a stretch, these decisions were all made around the same time. The 6 month lead time almost guarantees that.
Again, it is definitely on me for buying in to the trap they set, but they won’t get that from me again. I guess I’ll be letting the world pass me by, as you say, but I will not be spending nearly 2 P1Ps for one P1S again.
is this a confirmed thing? got my p1p 2 weeks ago
You can order the P1S now in some countries, and in August for others (I assume based on other shipment dates). I believe their return policy is two weeks. If the return doesn’t work, reach out and see if they will give you a P1S kit for a heavily discounted cost.
***Wow, are they censoring posts… this was “system” edited to remove the quote I put in.
i asked within the two weeks but support has not got back to me for 8 days
um this is concerning lol
I purchased 2 P1Ps within the last 3 weeks, one of which just 2 days ago. I emailed customer support within the hour (as they have no phone number for sales support ) to cancel my order and get a P1S instead of the P1P and take the difference of $100 dollars. I got an email next day saying it is too late to change my order as per their terms and conditions, as well as they cannot give me a refund for the difference? Clearly a misunderstanding. I never asked for any refund of anything but wanted to pay the difference. But that’s all I got. Oh well, I live and learn that not always things go your way. If only they had sales phone number, it would have a better buying experience. Waiting for days for an answer is really not the best customer sales experience.
In the end, I am kinda happy I did not get the P1S since the motherboard is inside the case and will get too hot albeit there being a cooling fan. It really should have been placed outside the “enclosure” to last longer but it is inside the enclosure, enduring all the heat. I don’t know how much shorter its life will be and I would like mine to have a full life.
I bought a P1P in June for the price of the P1S.
Extremely pissed about that, no code… nothing.
Well bad luck I would say.
