Received the wrong printer

Greetings, my first post.
Today (Friday, March 24) I was supper excited to finally receive the X1 Carbon in Toronto, Canada.
My jaw dropped when I opened the box, they sent me the basic X1 instead of the X1 Carbon.
Opened a ticked and emailed the sales team to have this sorted.
Has this happened to any of you?

Interesting. It was my understanding that the regular X1 was discontinued in North America a while ago.

How could you tell it was only an X1? Can you post a picture of your X axis rails?

I know it is the x1, no camera, the side panels are plastic and the logo print is missing the word “Carbon”

Man, that really stinks. Did your order confirmation email say, “Bambu Lab X1-Carbon Combo 3D Printer × 1”?

Invoice “Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D Printer × 1”, i didn’t order the AMS (will be buying it at some point)
Customer support is investigating, had to send pics including SN

If by any chance Bambu Lab offer you big discount to keep this and get the parts to make it effectively an X1C then depending on what you’re looking to print I’d be tempted to take them up on the offer.

The X1 with its plastic sides holds heat better than the metal sides on the X1C, so for engineering filaments it can actually be a better option. The X1C requires insulating in most environments in order to stop the chamber losing too much heat.

It’s and enclosed P1P.

agree, really looking forward to have the X1 Carbon

Does it not have the X1 electronics? So with some upgrades like chamber fan and camera, should it not be a full X1C spare for the nice metal and glass housing?

It does have the sam electronics, but it’s a few more things than just fan/camera. It has the same chamber fan, but missing the aux fan. Would need hardened extruder, hardened nozzle, and air filter.

Update: Bambulab recognized the error and will provide the correct unit. The bad news is the X1 Carbon won’t be shipped until they receive the X1 (trust issues?) also I will have to arrange and pay for return shipping, to be reimbursed later.
what do you guys think, is this the best they could have done for me?

It surely is not the best they could have done, but it sounds like an acceptable solution.
I usually would have expected to provide a return shipping label, but as they offered to reimburse the cost, it sounds at least acceptable, not knowing your local laws about what is actually required of them to do.

+1 I usually would have expected to provide a return shipping label

Not to defend Bambu here or anything but speaking as a business if they have not setup a courier for returns of printers yet in your region this could be the reason for the return/ reimbursement.

Not sending the new one until the old one is received is relatively common practice. The company has to do the right thing the consumer could choose not to do the right thing. Meaning you could walk away with a free new printer.

Just Playing Devils advocate here. I think under the circumstances that’s a reasonable response. Above and beyond would have been for them to get a quote for the shipping and send you that money upfront. Thats mitigating risk.

This is the reason. He’s in Canada and Bambu Lab don’t have a physical presence there yet. I remember reading about them having to use a series of third party warehouses located in Canada (something to do with making sure Canadian customers don’t get hosed with huge import taxes). Those companies probably can’t setup returns for Bambu Lab yet.

It sucks, but it’s probably the best way to get it taken care of. Based on what others have said who have been in a similar situation of receiving the wrong or damages items, they’ll probably give you store credit so you can buy some additional filament and accessories once they get things squared away with you on a new printer.

Yup

I’m in Snow Mexico myself up on the West Coast

There are definitely a couple of distribution warehouses up here because whenever I order spare parts or BL filament it shows up within 3-5 days

As for returns I’m positive that like you suggested they will offer something decent in return for the mix up and waiting period but most likely not until they know the X1 sent by mistake arrives back in as new condition

I would hope they would send a few spools of PLA and a textured PEI plate or something along the lines of similar value and usefulness

Maybe @GC1969 will be one of the first to get some new colors of that PETG/CF to ease some of the frustration

Personally I never expect anything in regards to a sorry we F’d up, but when a company goes a bit above to make things right it goes a long way with me

I hope the reward for your patience is worth it, maybe someone like @SirWill can help alleviate the mistake in some way

What say you Will ? We already get the short end of the stick up here in Canada lol

I’m like “Tabarnak, nous essayons de vous soutenir pour l’amour de la merde”

I worked with a giant frenchman that was in the military so in order to keep him in check I learned a bit of french myself

We can’t do return labels in Canada :frowning:

Watch the foul language please

I can’t promise any extras, but I certainly will suggest it to management seeing as how our warehouse/logistics partner made the mistake.

In other news, apparently, Canada still has some X1 in stock. :joy:

That explains it. :tada:

Thats why I was careful to not put any blame, not knowing the situation or even country. Stuff can happen and â– â– â– â–  will happen if volume is just big enough. And usually it can be sorted out in an acceptable way for all sides.
