Repair Services?

Is it possible to have a P1S repaired in the NYC area (preferably in-home)?

You (the user) can perform most of the repairs.

Look at the Wiki to see guides on assembly, disassembly, and fixing common issues.

I definitely get it. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction regarding the following problems. I’ve had no luck so far:

  1. The hotend cooling fan speed is too slow or stopped. It may be stuck or the connector is not plugged in properly.
  2. The filament cutter sensor is malfunctioning; please check whether the connector is properly plugged in.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated and this may be a dumb question…other than eyeballing, how can one tell if connectors are plugged in properly?

I’m assuming this is the same printer from your other thread?

I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that there may be something more complicated going on here as the previous owner probably had connection problems between the print head and the mainboard.

Check to see if you have a good ground between the head and the mainboard.

If you do decide it’s too much for you there are a few results in Google for 3d printer repair in New York. Also if none of these pan out I’d bet that a lot of places advertising 3D printing services might do repair too.

the two items plug into the the Extruder Interface board. So from there either it could be going bad or it’s cable isn’t plugged into the TH board properly. I’m assuming you’ve already checked both plugs into the Interface board and they are solid. Replacing the Extruder board is easy and it’s a cheap part.

The cable is the big flat silver one above where the filament sensor plugs in that runs over the top of the assembly and plugs in right where it drops. I don’t know where to get that cable itself, Support may have one available. Be sure it’s seated properly on both sides.

Other than that could be the TH board but I think you’d see more errors, especially since the extruder motor plugs directly into the TH board.

The only other cable would be the communication cable that runs the length of the cable chain and attaches to the MC board. P1 series tool head cable. I wouldn’t think it’s that.

I’m in Danbury, CT if that isn’t too far for you to take the machine. If you’re interested we’ll figure out some rate, but I have a lot of experience.

Thanks. I’m going to keep trying. It would be a nice train ride up to Danbury but carrying a printer would be a problem.
