I accidentally hit a keyboard shortcut while working on a model description, and a dialog popped up that contained the name of the model editor.
There is some really cool stuff in here. For example, merge fields. I have wanted merge fields for sooooo long! (See this feature request from April):
Also have a template, so any time I make a new model it can automatically add some boilerplate stuff. The merge fields should allow for the same rich text as the main editor, too.
There’s other stuff too, though. Slash commands could be cool (maybe allowing us to make custom ones if possible?), and allowing a more broad selection of colors (rather than just red) would be great. Also format painting/continuous format painting. And draft previews
I love the idea of templates that can be applied to any set of models you upload. Then you just have to edit the template to make a change instead of potentially hundreds of individual model description changes. Now I really want that…
That would be paid by Bambu, not by you. I’m not sure why the users would need to pay a third party to be able to use a text editor on Bambu’s website.
Bambu already pays for it. They already have the features. They just have to enable them. It’s the cost of doing business. The same way they pay for servers, they are paying for a text box so they don’t have to develop it themselves. They are not about to charge for basic features. Only one model platform has a premium subscription, as far as I know. And that’s not for the model platform, it’s for their cloud slicer. Bambu will not make users pay for this. They will (and already do) pay for it themselves.
CKBox is not the editor… Why should the editor on makerworld need file storage? CKEditor still seems to have a price for commercial use, but hidden behing a “Get a Quote”
Merge Fields are part of the premium package. (still not CKBox).
