Although i don’t use the cloud, i am not against it. I already stated that i don’t want Bambu to burn and i even want them to grow even more. My wife uses the cloud all the time with the A1 Mini and for her, it’s wonderful.
I think the biggest problem is that Bambu is going against what they promised when they kickstarted their campaign. And since i am one of those backers, i feel betrayed after seeing some of their directions after they grew (i know, it’s business). I am all in for their closed hardware because it’s good, although i also consider that these last iterations of their machines were kind of “rushed” and came out with some problems of their own. There can’t be perfect and i get it too.
They did it with the “safety” reasons for their connect plugin. They did it with their false legal allegations about the current discussed fork and this shows how a company will behave in the future if let go with only a slap in the wrist. Some people say this will die like last time but here’s the thing… it never died! Behind the scenes there was lots more happening than people here in the forum are willing to discuss. This will always be brought up when the next “oopsie” happens again. Will they lose customers? No! Because their base customer are those who want to plug it in and click a button. Are those who see Bambu machines as a money printing machine. Are those who like to simply do stuff, without complications. It’s for those who see Bambu marketing videos and think “wow, i can buy a printer like this and start doing bike helmets for free” (based on their last marketing video).
Then everyone around here advocates that only the tinkerers are the ones offended but let’s get this straight. As soon as repairs are needed, tinkering is also needed and those who are against tinkering will have to do it. Hypocrisy much?!
Want to see how much of tinkering is needed for these machines, although it’s always being said here that no one wants that or that these machines are “tinker” free?
These are some of the quick examples i saw in the first page. There are way more than what i want to search for. They all have something in common. Tinkering is needed! Some topics even show that there is an underlying problem with certain machines that can’t be repaired or fixed by users and yeat, they tinker. They change, they repair, they “tune”, etc.
Am i against it? Not at all, i am a tinkerer myself but i am also an advocate for consumer rights and some of these machines are truly expensive to the point where i, a tinkerer by nature, don’t want to touch them but want them repaired instead. After all, they are machines marketed at me, the person who does only want to print.
Again, i am not against Bambu in everything, i am just a person that has been fckd by companies over and over until i woke up and decided that it was enough. Since then i started fighting for my rights as a consumer and in some occasions i even went the legal way. It is what it is.
Don’t you all be like me, but do what is right so that when your time comes, you know you will be covered
