We’ll see. Seems like all the canceled orders and loud voices have already made a difference.

Yup we will see.

For those of use who have been around on the forum some time know that “canceling” your order isn’t an easy thing to actually do. You have a 30 minute window to “cancel” your order. Once it’s past that you wait till it’s delivered and then ship the printer back. How many legitimate orders were placed and then canceled in this window? That’s a really tight turn around for anyone to place an order, read about the controversy and then legitimacy cancel it. This makes me wonder how many people might not be telling the truth…

You’ve been here less than 24 hours and have a name “byeByeBambu”. Let me guess, you’re not here to be a contributing member of the community are you? You’re only here to cause controversy and strife.

Yeah, I’m a Bambu customer in the thread literally titled ‘Share your feedback’ sharing my feedback. You’re quite astute.

And judging someone’s feedback by how much time they spend on a company forum is a pretty terrible metric, but given that you seem to live here I understand why you go that route.

…are you here to be the police of who gets to give feedback? good grief

here is some extract feedback to add to this thread

my feedback is to let me just print my way, with what every software I want to print from. No need for any cloud connection, no apps, no software, no MITM software, no subscriptions…

It’s actually .1%, not even worth a look.

He’s not judging by your time, it’s your name, it’s obvious what your agenda is.

My ‘agenda’ is I’m a customer mad about the announced changes, as Bambu Labs joins the long list of companies that don’t let you do what you want with the thing you bought.

How anyone isn’t a tad miffed by that is beyond me to be honest. Even if it doesn’t affect your personal workflow like it does many, the precedent of stripping away features should concern you.

I’m not some huge customer by any stretch, but I pick up ~8 rolls of filament every month or two and was looking to get a new printer soon. Those filament sales and the printer sale are going elsewhere if the changes go through, which is a shame because the hardware is great for the price but not worth taking a risk on a company that has shown they can’t be trusted.
(And he opened his response with ‘you’ve been here less than 24 hours’ so yeah, he’s at least partially judging based on how much time you spend on the company forums which is just silly.)

And the issue is that this isn’t about security, that’s just an excuse to exercise more control over the product you own.

I would bet every dollar I’ve spent on 3D printing over the last decade, which would probably be a soul shattering number to see, that they have some sort of subscription based plan in the works for their printers. And they know that the 3d printing community is all about open source, so if they have open hardware then any feature they try to charge for will within the week be implemented in an open and free way.

And with that I’m out, I don’t ALSO need to be living on these forums!
Fingers crossed they cave to the feedback.

It is true that it can be challanging to deal with Bambu Lab as a company. I for one requested a B2B account, so I didn’t have to hassle with taxes, vat and such. But! For some reason, when adjusting my account to a B2B account, they bungled up my address, they added three digits to my housenumber. So I requested them to remove those numbers. (That is right, I am not allowed to adjust my shipping address, only my billing address) It has currently taken them two weeks to escalate the ticket… They still haven’t fixed the address…

Might also be a security feature I guess…

Funny, I had no problem changing my shipping address, which I did just a couple of weeks ago.

What features are they stripping away?

So you or ‘byebyebambu’ can’t list one feature being stripped away. Got it.

Funny, for every person that has a problem, you counter it all the time with your positive experience. It counts as a positive experience and that’s good, but it may not even be the same experience as some have in the end.

Changing address and billing address is something trivial and everyone can do it… unless you are on a B2B account. Are you? If yes, then is a restriction applied to some and to others not and should also be addressed. Being quiet about it won’t fix it and as seen, being vocal is the only way to get answers from Bambu.

This coming from a guy that has lots of bambu printers and not from a hater. Love the hardware, hate the company decisions.

Supported LAN mode for all models with no “authorization and authentication protection mechanism” scheme (that by the way has been hacked within 1 day). 3rd party software integration equal to Bambu Lab. Ability to use random 3rd party accessories (such as BigTreeTech’s) without the blessing of Bambu Lab while not losing support.

And their Terms of Use still state

Your Bambu Lab product will automatically search for and download new update packages to provide you with timely update services.(…) Due to the importance of these updates, your product may block new print job before the updates is installed

I don’t believe this is entirely accurate. They made a blog post about addressing some of the outright false claims.

That blog post honestly does nothing to alleviate my concerns.
They still have in their ToS that they can require you to upgrade your firmware and can block printing until you do so, and this doesn’t say they won’t have subscriptions but that none will be mandatory to ‘use’ your printer.
Use’ it in what capacity? With what features stripped away?

This is a product I bought and own, they should have no say in how I’m using it.
