This is already a gesture of goodwill on Bambu’s part and speaks in Bambu’s favor, because your seller is primarily responsible for the warranty. Bambu is only responsible as a secondary party.

This shows that you don’t know the difference between customer support and company contact. Support staff are located all over the world; they’re trained to help you - but not to know every law in every country.

Going on and on about it won’t get you anywhere - I’ll tell you that right now. That’s what will happen with any company if you return almost the entire order!

The order was one printer. The reseller took back the first one that is a separate issue and is considered separate as a transaction but not in terms of quality from Bambu labs.

Again the second printer was bought directly from Bambu labs. Them replacing that printer was guaranteed by law. They didn’t have a choice if the machine didn’t meet the specifications and requirements they specified and meet UK law.

I would love a solution that works. But the experience over the last few months tends to drive you into the floor.

The printer for a brief period performed rather well. I do like the H2C vortek system and I really like the app.

Let me put it this way. I showed the UK consumer rights ombudsman the evidence and it’s been referred to the UK trading standards agency. If the ombudsman thought I was being unreasonable or in the wrong they would not refer the case to the standards agency.

All I wanted from the start is a working multi material/colour capable printer. But according to you, that is an unreasonable expectation.

Above all, what are you hoping to achieve here on the forum? Bambu doesn’t read this anyway; the forum is 99% community-driven. People here can only help you if you’re really looking for a solution.

I wrote out a long reply but it wasn’t appropriate.

This is a tinkerer’s machine, it is not an appliance like bambu claims. It fits into small business, prototyping, and hobbyist demand. What you are expecting would cost about 5 times more then these machines minimum. It would also involve very expensive service contracts.

You may not agree with me, but as someone with a heavy manufacturing background this is my informed opinion.

The moment you bring it to law, they would block you from live agents… Those are not suitable for legal matters as the chat won’t be as trusted on the court.

Can you write down what happened exactly to your printers? A few video proofs would be helpful as well.

I actually mentioned the law to them through the email chat It didn’t even cross my mind until a few weeks down the process.

I’m happy to explain the issue my present machine is facing, the first issue is the y axis smooth rods have deep scratches on them, and according to Bambu lab it’s impossible to replace these rods. Having scratches on a precision part is not great and is also a vector for contamination to enter the bearing in ways the dust seal can’t stop. They also state that all their printers have scratches on these polished rods.

The second issue which did get rectified was the printer would fail ever hour due to “extruder not extruding” a new extruder gear and filament sensor and it was ok since (though the guide was for a H2D and not a H2C they have revised some parts on the printer but not the troubleshooting guides, they also don’t mention where to put lubrication on the parts or what kind of lubricant, so I did my best and copied what was on the parts I removed.)

The third issue was the Vortek motor it was making a very loud feedback when the printer was idling, it sounded like a old style kettle boiling dry or a fan belt slipping on a classic car.

The fourth issue is the power supply unit cooling fan. It’s making an odd loud squeel and clicking noise, I ensured all other fans were disabled via the printers menu prior to recording evidence for Bambu labs.

I did face another issue with the AMS 2 Pro clicking and banging the spool out of the holder like the drive wheel for the spool was not spinning or wasn’t disengaging to allow the feed motor to pull the filament. It’s behaving it’s self at the moment but I’m not all that confident in it.

Other than that the printer works pretty well. Managed to dial the multi colour in pretty well and would like to continue using the machine. I just don’t want the power supply failing and burning my house down, or the y axis rods or bearings to fail writing the machine off and Bambu labs refusing to do anything about it.

Are you 3d printing as a hobby or is it commercial?

A hobby, I have been printing as a hobbyist since my Prusa MK2 I have designed and made alot of things and some stuff for work also but I don’t sell anything for profit

  1. Photo of the scratched y rod. But they’re not lying to you: it’s ok and it’s very common to have scratches on rods. Unless it’s a dent, otherwise it won’t cause an issue.

I see, good luck then. I can’t think of a better reccomendation then bambu for hobbyist stuff.

As far as having scratches on the rods I wouldn’t worry too much. The bearings and proper lubrication matter more then a nick in the rod.

The other stuff… if the unit is under warranty I would run it as hard as possible and ring support the second it has a hard failure.

I have never had a printer that had scratches on the rods before not in over 10 years of messing with them, seems odd that it’s ok when I say scratches I mean you can catch them with your fingernail.

I was speaking to some of our electrical engineers in the office and they don’t think a properly programmed system should have an active servo running all the time when the thing isn’t actually being used, it should be in a “idle” or “sleep” state right ?

When the motor on the H2D was making noise while idling, a firmware update was released. Have you updated the firmware on your devices yet? It’s possible that the same applies to the H2C.

  • Hello, after investigation, we have confirmed that the issue originates from the motor. When the motor is stationary, a current is injected to maintain its locked position, which can produce this sound. We are currently optimizing the firmware to address this phenomenon. The sound does not affect print quality and does not occur during the printing process. Please await our upcoming firmware version updates, as future releases will aim to minimize this sound issue.

I wasn’t running it as hard as possible but I was contacting support when I had an issue for sure. I heard that creality is announcing something today though. Maybe I would have better luck there. I came from the prusa ecosystem I sued to have a pre order 5 tool head XL so I’m not stranger to messing around and tinkering with the machines. Though I am a mechanical biased engineer.

I could fix these issues myself but that would mean I would need to buy replacement parts for a relatively expensive (for a hobbyist) machine which still has 10 months warranty on it :sweat_smile:

Part of me wants SLS machines to be affordable for home (though I bet the dust would be a nightmare.) have you ever seen those plaster powder /liquid binder print cartridge machines before ? It’s kinda of like a sls but no laser

I’m happy to report the printer is fully up to date. I might try printing the calibration blocks and giving that a go
