Here’s a question about new printers, Dr Tao mentioned that they wouldn’t ever lock down filament “for our current line of printers”. What feature/reason would be cause for that if it ever happened do you think?
The H2D could very well be a testing ground for measuring the community’s reaction to locking down third-party filament. As for the reason, it would probably have something to do with profit and market share
I was considering that but I couldn’t really come up with a compelling reason for them to do so with it. It has 2 nozzles but from the little we can see they seem to not be particularly different from what’s normal. They have the market share and I’m sure are making plenty of profit, and they’re already dealing with some bad press from the open source community. They also don’t seem to have the ability to keep filament in stock, common colors like black and white are often out of stock, and they don’t sell specialty filament for stuff like sintering as well
If BBL locked down filament there will be a guarantee of pitchforks and torches.
One thing that was really confusing to me was that the black PLA Basic refills were always in stock but the 2 x PLA Basic black Refill was always out of stock, what happened (did they run out of cardboard boxes)??
Yeah it would HAVE to be for a feature or something, like if they went SLS or something maybe they’d do it in a proprietary way that isn’t compatible with 3rd party materials? The whole point of having standard filament is that there’s tons of companies making tons of unique filaments so we can print whatever we want.
I feel like you should have thousands of spare blacks and whites ready at all times at least. If you run into the hundreds you have an inventory management problem.
Especially if you’re offering bulk deals
Yes, I will always want my Dorito scented filament. Yes, scented filaments exist.
more like “Doritos being decomposed in the 500C hotend that prevents all third party filament because Apple filament is the only one that can go to 500C”
I thought scented filament was a lie but…
Also hope this proves I’m not a bot btw
How does the scented part not decompose in the hotend?
I am not sure, I’m too lazy to go research farther. Hope this proves I’m not a bot lol.
Have genAI bots actually been an issue on the BL forum before?
Not sure, I think there was debate about somebody being a bot on the “Is this cheating” thread
Raspi, the documentation alone is worth it compared to Orange Pi IMO
Bro wtf that is very off topic.
Somebody put a Raspberry pi on the Prusa XL for the camera since I believe there isn’t a first-party integration
Is the 0.5fps => 30fps camera meant to be the main motivation to go from P1S => X1
Just use a Wyze Camera. Its easier to use and cheaper than a pi.
Apple “doors” crate letters letters?. Am I having a stroke?
Do tell what they were? Or if you’ve already said, please remind us.
The wiper clip smashed flat from having the purge multiplier at 1.2 with petg. (I believed reviewers that said there was a bleed issue, so i set it high. theres no bleed issue) Caused chute jams. Thankfully there was a spare because it was 1 month shipping. Now theres a model for it. The bed leveling screws were too tight, so the bed mesh started to have a ton of retries. Finally failing to finish. I only found it because I looked though. Im sure if I had contacted support, they would have sent me down a rabbit hole or took 4 days to reply. And there would definitely be a chinese holliday involved
What seems kind of crazy to me is how much we stress over the price of printers when over their life we’ll spend more on filament.
