Speculation about new printer announcements

iPrinter, MacPrinter, iMac3D, Apple’nExtruder,…and several versions derived from that … eventually, Apple might demonstrate some creativity and could call them ¡Ay, caramba!…the choice is huge.

I want newer printers that are coming out to try MagLev fans. They are super cool to see in action. Here is a little info on it.

“MagLev fans or magnetic levitation fans are a type of fan that uses magnetic levitation to spin. Unlike traditional fans that use steel bearings to transfer power between the stator and rotor, MagLev fans use magnetic flux generated by opposing and attracting magnets to transmit energy. Almost zero friction, quieter, and long lasting.”

Potential Noctua alternative if they could become cheap, and even better if they give more airflow than normal fans. I’ve been looking for a 24v fan that’s as quiet as the Noctua, and since I assume that the Maglevs run on a higher voltage that would be amazing (blower fans will probably arrive as well)

It will probably use a special filament that is 2mm wide and cost $40 a spool. Classic Apple.

They’ll market their 5mm filament as “getting more filament per meter” while they ignore the “getting less meter per spool”

Corsair already sells them for a reasonable price of $30 a fan. It is called the ML120.

Or make it like 1mm for quality.

Isn’t that a PC case fan? I mean sizes like 4020, 5020, 4028, 3010, 4010, etc. For blower (or normal) fans companies could definitely fill a niche of 24v Noctua-quiet fans

At that point the tolerances will probably get excessive in % (±0.05mm of 5mm is only 1% but ±0.05mm of 1mm is 5%)
Imagine them putting RFID in filament and the machine stops the print when you don’t use their special filament even if you put the 1.75mm through a nozzle to get 1mm

Imagine If Apple released a printer. What would it be called? What would It look like? Size? Price?

Yes, it is for case fans at the moment, I bet the 3d printing world can adapt for blowers pretty quickly if they wanted to.

maybe they’ll implement material interlocking before the heat death of the universe!
maybe I should get a Prusa XL

even better, their multi-material system costs more than the actual printer and wastes 3x as much as a X1C, and you can’t use non-Apple filament

what would the GCODE be called? what about 3DBenchy.iGCODE

Or just iCode. Or i3Code, but that might get mistaken for the Prusa I3

If Apple actually releases a printer with those features I would be happy for the Prusa-Apple lawsuit to come into existence about the i3

Speaking of Prusa, do you think the MMU3 will work with the Core One? Apparently there are some prototypes
I saw one in Lost in Tech’s video about the core one

I’m going to put that as a maybe. If they don’t, they would probably add support in the future like how they added support for the touchscreen long after the MK4 was released.

They’d sell .75kg rolls of 1.45mm filament with narrow spools so normal spools wouldn’t fit in the system because it was “optimal for our userbase”
