@110V-120V it can handle 5amps. Its just underpowered and working constantly at the edge of what it can handle. The one I ordered can handle 25amps.
Got my first parts for the rat rig today. Should have some clearview plastics panels soon too.

From the looks of it, Rat Rig is CNC machining the metal parts?
On a different topic: I don’t know how or even whether the coming wave of tariffs that will get implemented in 2025, probably starting in January, will affect prices on imported 3D printers, but it might be prudent to buy and get delivered before year-end any 3D printer or filaments one might want. I wouldn’t be surprised if prices went up by 20%+, based on earlier chip tariffs. I don’t know whether or not that will extend to assembled machines or not. IIRC, last time it didn’t, but I think we’ll see stronger measures than before, maybe ramped up over time to avoid sudden shocks to the system.
Yep. If you live in the US, that would indeed be a really wise and quite pragmatic approach to the changes that are about to come once the one who cannot be named begins the new reign.
Printers, spares, filament, resin, accessories, whatever you are considering to acquire later (except for the new Bambu flagship, as it will launch much later), better find the resources to buy them now, before mid January 2025.
Sorry, those are aftermarket parts. But yes, most of the rat rig is metal. Not sure if its all cnc machined, but I would guess so.
Most americans think the exporting country pays tariffs because thats what theyve been tricked into believing over the last year. About to be a rude awakening.
It will be named “Big Bambu” and have a build volume of 420x420x420. They’re working on a Cheech and Chong endorsement as we speak.
OK, well now I know this thread has completely died. It was fun while it lasted, especially all the banter about the Plus 4 and more recently the rat rig. Following the market and the prediction parts just didn’t get traction. It never reached critical mass on postings from diverse users. I guess people prefer to hunt for deals on their own rather than get the leveraged benefits of pooled knowledge, and so be it.
1056 replies… If it’s gonna die we should stop that from happening. Great starter question: What are some really big problems about 3d printing still unsolved? Any companies that are trying to do so?
1057 now, but who’s counting?
And anyways it’s not the numbers of posts or of users that keep a topic alive…and interesting, it’s, (how @NeverDie said), the content and the quality of that information of what’s posted that keeps a topic appealing for many of us.
Yeah, a joke here and there, a tease now and then, a smile and a laugh do add some “salt & pepper” and help keeping things on the “light side”, but as it’s going now, this topic looks to be close to reaching the end of its life cycle… To bad… it was fun and informative while it lasted.
Later edit:
it looks like Prusa might have come up, or will do so sometime soon, with their own AMS/drybox enclosure version, which rumors say might be priced north of EUR € 284.90/piece.
Owning an XL, if the rumor proves to be true, I know that I’ll have to buy myself a couple of these.
That’s an AMS/drybox? For how many filament rolls? Ah, Bigtree…
Yeah, lets see

Just a bigtreetech teaser from facebook. Probably 4 rolls. Im seeing alot of universal units popping up now.
I know BTT have made some trash but I feel like they do make good electronics.
Their teasers are on Instagram too. They have actually 2 of them: the Vibrance unit and the Versatility unit

My guess is one is heated? Possibly on the right hand side is the actual heater unit electronics. Looks like the lid is taller. Maybe 360 heating. Fun times. Boxes are getting checked off fast.
We’ll see… nevertheless, it looks like we’re living interesting times and Bambu competitors are starting to wake up… which is good for us.
I was waiting (impatiently) for LDO to come out with an Enraged Rabbit Carrot Feeder kit to try my hand at building an AMS for a Voron. The kits from other companies have been out for a while but I really trust LDO from the Voron kits (and their motors). Anyway, last week I got a notice that pre-orders opened for their Box Turtle kits. It looks VERY similar to the Bambu AMS just without a lid. I pre-ordered two so I can add them to the big 'ole pile of “Projects that require effort and energy” lol.
Almost ordered one from west3d(45 min from my house) but then saw the price and that plastic parts arent included. Super cool though
Well, Jessie my boy, those printed parts have to come from someone’s pocket, so, instead of theirs (they’ve cleverly thought), why not come out from yours? After all (they would argue), if you got the money to buy yourself a "turtle ", you’ve got the money to print yourself the missing parts…
Very true. Now that I really think of it, I blow money on far worse things. LDO does have some of the best hardware too.
Aw man, I love them too. Normally if both places have something and its the same price I’ll order from KB because it usually gets here a couple of days quicker. The only real 3D store close to me is Fabreeko, and it’s 5 hours away. I was hoping it would be less, but I don’t mind printing the parts because I over order filament regularly… that makes it easy to use the excuse I need to clear out space
I was unaware of this kit; out of curiosity, why did I choose it over the ERCF?
It looks simpler than the ERCF.
By the way, do you know the quantity of filament used for the printed parts?
