I did the same, in hindsight, it’s apropos of nothing and just kind of mean. sorry for any stress my reply may have caused.
Honestly before I saw the notification about the pre-order launching I didn’t know about it either. I had been looking at the ERCF for a while but I wasn’t crazy about the kits that were available. If LDO had come out with that kit first I would have gone with it instead but I never could get them to even confirm if they were really working on one or if it was a rumor. I think you’re right though, this one doesn’t look as complex as the ERCF, which sounds good to me. About the filament I just found this:
Total Filament used ~1.8 KG 3 different material types and 2 colors
Impressive new kind of high-end engineering-grade 3D printer filament that’s 5x the stiffness of PEEK, at half the weight of aluminum, but which nonetheless can be printed on a Bambu X1C and without the need for subsequent annealing:
I think im going to pick one of these up today. Or preorder one atleast. Bought a Voron 2.4 that ill also be picking up. You got my brain thinking about Voron again lol
Sorry! Lol… One of those pre-orders is for a 2.4… a 2.4 that isn’t even built yet. That kit came from West3d and it’s been under my diningroom table for MONTHS. Maybe while I’m off for Christmas it will finally get built
All good. I needed a new project and more print capacity. Grabbed the 350mm with titanium kinematics mounts and backers. Should be fun. Did yours come with the build plate and magnet sheet?
I was looking at the amount of printed parts for the box Turtle. Its pretty long. Now the printed parts price makes more sense. The hardware list is also pretty impressive.
Building a(nother) printing farm, Jessie ?
Expanding into the garage. Got some nice heavy duty costco racks. Probably move my bambu setup and filament out there, since they dont need any supervision ever. I haven’t had a problem in such a long time, its nuts. It will be nice to regain this space. Plus, this weight cant be good for the floor joists. Being on the 2nd floor and all lol.
Yeah, it’s the LDO kit so it’s supposed to be everything except the printed parts. It’s crazy because I figured out I’m already a revision behind because I’ve been procrastinating so long.
I’m always intrigued when seeing printers side by side in the same shelf, when they run simultaneously doesn’t that mess up the input shaper?
No. I run the initial setup input shaper (The long one) while the other 2 are paused. Not sure if that even matters though. You cant see it, but that cabinet has a front and rear footing piece that sticks out 4 inches on the front and 6 in the back. Besides that, theres so much weight on it, including the lumber weight, that it doesnt move at all. Possibly the wood absorbs some of the higher frequency vibrations better than something like a metal work table also. But thats probably reaching
Hmm ok thanks, I need to figure out how to get a setup in this way then, I see print farms do this all the time, but those look like pretty heavy duty shelving units that look very expensive so don’t want to go that route, and was concerned of using this type of solution because i though when they would be printing at full speed that the vibrations would impact one another
Nope, I never see a negative impact, but I can imagine that if the table/shelf/rack is unstable, it probably will make a negative affect. Now I want to go shake a printer while its printing lol
Not cheap but these are the best I found. Very heavy duty. Like smaller version of racking you would see being used at a home depot or lowes. Cheap when comparing the man hours it took to build the ams cabinet
True one does need to take into account the time it will take to go full custom. Thanks for sharing that one, it does look sturdy
…and quite costly as well
It is, but if you go for a proper thick wood shelving unit and customize, it won’t get too far from that - at least where I live, it would only be cheaper if you build the whole thing yourself and I don’t have the skills and workshop to be able to pull that off
I used a shelf bracket to secure my wood printer stand to the wall, solid as a rock.
That top one is nice. I wonder how much space between the shelves. Seems like a decent solution.
