Speculation about new printer announcements

Between this and whatever Bambu is releasing next year I definitely need to make some room. I think on Christmas morning, at about 3am, I’m going to leave a couple of these Neptunes on random people’s porches and run.

@StreetSports Then you read it correctly

Well, except the MK4S is pretty slow. At least according to Aurora Tech, really, really slow.

Me likey as well! Too bad I already have acces to too many 3D printers as is and Prusameters tend to not rack up as fast as MW points.

It won’t be a Bambu killer for sure, and it still has to prove itself, but this is what they had to do at the very least to stay in the game and at that price point it will be a serious contender.

Let’s see what Bambu comes up with next (I did not read through this behemoth of a topic), maybe Prusa’s efforts are still too little, too late

Oh man, now I want to play with one of those…

Sure youre thinking of the s? I thought it had bonkers mode for an 8 minute benchy and 14minute normal benchy. I can only find 12 minute videos though.

Well I don’t think it will KILL Bambu but it will definitely take a giant chunk out of their business. In the video he made a point to bring up all the major things people have complained about regarding the X1C and explain how they fixed them. As soon as I watched the video I went straight to order one but the $400 shipping stopped me. If PrintedSolid adds it anywhere close to the price on the Prusa site I’ll grab one.

Not like X1\P1 is super fast when you want to get a good quality… ask folks who are still challenging to print PETG somewhat reliably.

For me, it’s pretty much a next printer.
BL is good, but maintenance and constant breakdown are getting tiresome.

$949 for the kit is right up my alley. Like others, ill be watching printedsolid for the drop. I wonder what the actual maximum colors will be

Finally, they entered the competition!
I’ve to say that some specs (e.g. extruder max temperature) could be better; nevertheless, the possibility of mod and upgradability together with well-known Prusa support is pretty appealing! I can’t wait for the user’s reviews and comparison between this model and the upcoming BL printer…
Do you think BL’s new flagship will compete in the same price range?
With so much speculation regarding the new features (besides the larger volume), I would expect they aim for a new market (likely 2000$ - 2500$), which could be acceptable, but I hope to be wrong.

While I think I would manage to set up the MMU or other multi-filament device, I would miss the BL AMS plug-and-play simplicity.

Yes, I saw max nozzle temp and it seems low. I will need to check on the heater capacity, if it’s capable - then E3D nozzle and let’s goooo.

About new “BL flagship”. I have a horrible feeling that it will be somewhat X2 version with 300mm or 250mm, but it’s going to cost a lot of money. I think it will start at around $1500 for a barebone model with AMS pro or whatever they release along it.

They are not going to target 2-2.5k market because they already have X1E.
And prosumer market, let’s be honest, are dominated by Rats and Vorons, etc. Ppl who can dump that much money are usually are fully capable in assembling printer from bits.

So… yeah, CoreXY Prusa with that sweet price is for sure going to damage Bambu. After all, many people switched to BL from Prusa because:
a) Enclosed CoreXY
b) Price for MK3\4 is unacceptable.

Do a xmas good deed and drop a couple on my staircase… it should be right in your way to those random people; you just need to take it first right, on Oceanside Avenue, swim across the Atlantic pond, walk until Brussels and voilà, you’ll be at my doorsteps in a blink of an eye ( make it both eyes to be sure). What say ya Mcgee?

Well I would absolutely love to see Brussels, and getting to see your setup and printers would be icing on the cake… unfortunately I’ve squandered almost all my vacation time at work. How about this, I’ll box a couple of them up, put some bogus postage on them that I found online, put your address as the “from” and my address as the “to”… then stamp “Return to sender” on it and drop it at the post office. You think they’d fall for that?

I would love seeing that trick work. But both of us know better :upside_down_face:

Oh, well, I did try… bye bye Neptunes… so very sad to see y’all gone.

I am with high expectations concerning the new BL flagship.
I also expect that the innovations go beyond the minor improvements in the X1E related to the X1C.

If BL can bring up a new printer with a larger volume and practical innovations at about 1500$, it would put them a “few” miles ahead of the competition again. The Prusa kept my attention because of their strategy of upgradability, which is the main feature I miss in the X1C.

Move the cutter to the back where it should have been all along.

Given there is space there and not in the way of the build plate it seems daft it wasn’t there from day 1.

agree with this one, let’s see what they come up with, and if they maintain a competitive pricing

otherwise, that prusa sure looks nice!! although not quite the bed size that i’d like but getting close

Obviously, one cannot compare the benefits of open source promoted by Prusa, against the Apple closed business model that’s openly embraced and relied upon by Bambu.

I understand that BambuLab is at FormNext 2024, but I can’t find any info about what they’re showcasing. I’ve seen Prusa’s offering on various Youtube videos and elsewhere online, but I’ve seen nothing at all about Bambu.

Does anyone know where I can see information / video of their booth at FormNext?

Bambu seems to keep a very tight lid on that info, most likely wanting to surprise its competition and customers when unveiling what they’re preparing for the event… similarly with their secrecy and scarcity of info on their new flagship printer.
