I have seen companies sell previous gen tooling and sales rights to 3rd party companies. Common in the automotive world. Hopefully Bambu goes that route instead of just dropping old lines. Like selling it to matterhackers, E3d or printed solid. A compang like those. First they would need to stop releasing beta hardware that gets a ton of Alpha hardware revisions within the same generation though. Thats always going to cause long term support and replacement issues. Along with making self sourcing hardware replacement more dufficult.
Right now, I have an X1C down because the bed leveling stopped working. Most likely a bed sensor but Bambu only sells the complete bed and I dont want to go through support to make sure i get the correct one of three options. Been down a couple weeks but I didnt even want to mention it here.
I ordered a second X1C for my workshop last week. Take advantage of year end sale.
Got the box an hour ago - DHL Express. Odd. The box looked like the wrong shape when it arrived, and it was plain cardboard - without any writing.
I found a printed note laying on top of an inner cardboard box that said âProperty of Bambulab. Must be returned.â
Inside the inner box I found some makeshift packing material and what looks sorta like a Bambulab printer but bigger with âH2Dâ written on the front.
As someone that worked closely with a printing shop I can tel you some things about the image that sparked so much doubt.
It could be fake but very unlikely, Itâs too close to real to be worth the effort , to get it that close to reality you would need some pretty good technical knowledge to know how it should look in reality and then way above average editing skills.
It pretty clearly looks like a photograph made by somebody on the printing floor of a label intended to be stuck to the box of the printer. Here are my reasons:
Is not a screen grab or a direct image upload because the Prepress Technician work with sensitive material and are working on protected computers and very often under confidentiality contracts. Is very hard to impossible to leak an image directly. On the production side things are much harder to control and people care less about their job, is way easier to find a factory job.
You can clearly see the cut and alignment markers that are used to align the cut file on the actual printed image.
The cuts are already visible and this means they are self adhesive labels, this is not marketing material, just a label for the box.
The grey text above is intended to remain on the discarded part as somebody indicated
The perspective is off because of the conditions the picture was taken(not straight)
The logos are different because most companies have multiple variations of their logo that is used in specific ways. For example Bambu Lab uses the one with a mark on B only with the rectangular bamboo logo/icon. For any other places they use the simple one with the font in their branding manual. All of the respectable companies have a branding manual that explains where and how things should be used and look.
The design of the machine, the look, is of a polished product but not spectacular with details that would be hard to invent if you donât have a reason to put there. Anybody that would like to deceive would have used the opportunity to wow , to make it look good and point out some flashy details like big display, shiny surfaces, no handles and so on.
The missing gap is due to the perspective, the glass is in plane with the aluminium and from this distance (and low resolution) you will not be able to see any gaps. You do see some wide gaps where the hinges are probably located because when you would open the door you would hit the hinge. Notice that the grey plastic is not aligned with the aluminium.
The âsmallâ screen is probably the same or slightly larger than the one on the X1C because of the size of the machine .
The AMS looks the right size and a bit odd positioned. If you want to fake a picture you donât choose an odd position.
I would hope they would finally do internal hinges so that the door can open fully and also seal against a flat surface when closed. No more giant door gaps.
What about the fact you cant adjust the touch screen ? Does it come with a stand or shall I bend down every time I want to retrieve my print ? LOL Just saying. Also the hinges are visible on the outside glass.
