It’s more that I view dryer as a separate appliance from the printer. What if the printer is powered down due to issues, awaiting repair?
Not so sure about “new”.
IMHO “PRE SALE” is because they don’t have them in stock.
It has happened, but it’s rare enough that I don’t even remember the particulars of when it last happened. Maybe once a year? Perhaps 2 or 3 times a year? I haven’t paid enough attention to be certain. I suppose it’s a function of how much you print. The sensitivity is adjustable. I’m running on the default settings. At least in my case, I feel confident it detects more actual spaghetti events (maybe not right away, but eventually) than false positives. I wish it could spot them sooner. Thinking about it now, I suppose I should increase the sensitivity a smidge and see how that goes.
Anyway, at this rate it’s no big deal. It pauses the print and waits for you to either continue the print, as you would surely choose to do if it were a false positive, or cancel the print if you see no way to recover it. Definitely not perfect, but because it’s an AI learning thing, it keeps improving as it learns and, right or wrong, my subjective impression is that it actually has improved over the last two years.
Fair enough. It sounds maybe a little more inviting than “backordered”, and definitely more inviting than “out of stock,” which to some might raise concerns that maybe it was discontinued.
Case closed.
Back to slow evolution. Hopefully Teaching Tech will finish his SV08 knockoff of the Prusa XL soon. He’s 5 episodes in, but seems to have a ways yet to go. An ambitious project, to be sure.
Saw a 7 head voron at west3d a few weeks ago. Really nice custom build using 3030 extrusion. Extra tall build area . Probably 350x350x600. on casters It was on consignment.
Took any pics of it by any chance?
Did not. Letters letters l
Would have been more helpful if instead of letters, letters you would have chosen pics, pics
@StreetSports
Thinking about it now, you’re right: the voron project is the DIY horse to bet on., not the various youtubers who are literally making it up as they go along and who may eventually throw in the towel long before finishing. Teaching Tech’s most recent video was a long confession about how burned-out he felt. And if Bambu’s next printer turns out to be like the XL, then, who knows?, the various youtubers might all immediately fold…since they’ll probably get one for free and then have no remaining reason left to complete their own.
Nice, looking forward to seeing what you make of it
Watched his Rant video. I like that he spoke about being fed up with the recent fanboy/brand loyalty movement. I feel the same pain.
I see he finally shaved off the mustache. Didnt last long.
His wife was complaining of being to ticklish to that…that’s why
Your review on the Plus was refreshingly objective, so I’m truly looking forward to it.
You have quite a few printers now, including the rat rig that you are either building or have already finished building. That puts you in a great position to compare/contrast the top printers now on the market, and as a result I find your insights very helpful at cutting through the hype and giving us the inside scoop.
Im waiting on the one box to be replaced from RatRig still. It should be here soon. 1 week shipping. They did everything for me. I never even had to contact DHL. And now I have a pony saddle lol. I did open all ghe other boxes finally and everything looks really nice. Thats all I really have so far. The missing box had all the goodies in it.
Trying to finish the Voron, but fillastruder sent the wrong stepper motors and now doesnt have the correct ones in stock. Ive resorted to buying long shaft steppers and cutting them down myself because nobody is getting stock for some reason.
Amazon is so good. Ive been spoiled. Every time I step outside the site to make a purchase, something goes wrong. Another thing is they only want to stock a couple of each thing at any given time.
Rant over
This popped up on the Elegoo site and as soon as someone mentioned it on their Discord it disappeared. One of the Elegoo people said it was “testing” and that was just a placeholder price… that’s pretty specific for a placeholder price lol.
Which motors did you need?
hmm that seems a bit too cheap, i would be surprised, but let’s see
I thought the same when I saw it, but if they get too close in price to the P1S I’m not sure how well it will do. In every interview when they were asked about multi-color for it they said, “not at this time”. They’ve talked like the firmware is going to be closed source too, which most Elegoo fans aren’t really used to either. I noticed recently that the Github where they were working on their own fork of Bambu Studio isn’t there anymore. Lots of questions on this one…
ah ok that makes sense then, this is probably to compete with the Kobra S1 (without the AMS) which should end up in the same range (price without promo on this one is higher, but their printers are always in promo :D)
