Speculation about new printer announcements

I was just reading that they ship with dual chamber heaters. A 110 volt heater and a 240 volt heater. The power supply is auto switching and only supplies the correct heater for your location. Probably simplified the assembly line and prevented a qidi slip up. But…it also has me wondering if I can buy a 2nd 120volt heater and swap out the 240volt one. leaving me with dual 120 volt heaters. Ill have to see how the power is supplied to them and see how much juice is left in the psu.

@NeverDie Ill bet money that the new bambu will have an eddy current sensor in the nozzle for on the fly tuning. Or whatever sensor does that. Im tired, or ai would varify lol. The tricky part will be how good that sensor is with the wide array of filaments we use.

Could come from a super nerd team like the Voron guys or beacon folks. One of many reasons why the background open source thing is so important. Alot of the main stream “innovations” actually come from some random person on the internet that shared the idea publicly. And also important to support all these smaller groups.

It is not about chinese. Sure somehow it reflects in price (if you compare what you get from european competitors, but also there are totaly different concepts). But it could also happen if manufactured in Vietnam/Phillipines/…/USA. It is about design. Errors can happen, it is about how to deal with them.

.2mm layer height. 5mm brim. 3 walls. 4 top and bottom layers. 10% infill. None warped even a tiny bit.
Speeds were set based on experience not the actual max flow rate of the filament.

Changed materials slightly based on what I had that was dry.
-White/clear = Overture PC w/ironed top. @10mm/s3 flow
-Brown = Polylite ASA w/ hilbert curve top @ 18mm/s3 flow
-Black = Bambu PAHT Cf w/ironed top @8mm/s3 flow
-Green = Bambu ABS w/contentric top @ 18mm/s3 flow
All tops are smooth to the touch besides the hilbert curve top. The wave pattern is the infill ghosting. I dropped top layers from 5 to 4 and this happens.

how this became Creality printer K2 thread ?

Youre new, and I get it. This thread is the one thread that covers all new printers. Im jn the process of reviewing the k2. Read the whole thread to catch up. The whole rest of the forum(besides the public chat thread) are for bambu stuff only. Right now, you may feel more at home in one of the complaint threads.

Watch the announcements section for any H2D info. Should be coming in the next couple months.

I would be surprised if they don’t, since they use that in the A1/A1 mini…

Nice looking prints there. Happy with your new toy so far then?

Yeah. So far. Time will tell if its reliable though.

Are there actually two heaters? Or just one that works on either 120 or 240?

The X1C heatbed is just a resistor that works on either mains voltage, controlled by circuitry working off the 24V power supply (which accepts 85-264 VAC input). Switching input voltages is just a matter of changing to a cord with the correct 120/240 plug. I’d think a chamber heater could be operated in the same way, with a 24V fan.

looking good  thanks for your regular updates, they are much appreciated

I havnt actually looked but it does seem that only the upper half of the heater heats up. I heard that that its actually 2 seperate units with 2 seperate fuses stacked on top of each other. 2 rectangle units to fit the square slot

Last test im doing will be VFA and max flow rate tests among the prusa xl, bambu x1c, qidi plus4 and creality k2 plus. Im also going to run a TPU benchy on each and then post all the comparison pics.

Using the same exact rolls for each test, from orca slicer

@PrinterMcgee Have you heard anything about your Core One?

No, and I’m checking Reddit and the Prusa forum daily looking to see if anyone says theirs shipped lol.

After seeing some of these comparison tests im runnkng, I really want a smaller faster Prusa now. The XL is a beast on quality at the same speeds as others even

I would love to have one… but I’m still trying to figure out what I’m going to move around to make room for the Core One. I was off for two weeks at Christmas and STILL haven’t started the Voron 2.4 lol.

Edit: Going to run some interference by changing the name of this mini review to “Watch the X1C DOMINATE all these other printers. It is the only printer brand that I suggest to first time users and is the easiest to get good prints from.”

Going to need to wait on the TPU prints. My TPU was wet af.

Below, I’ll show 2 VFA angles (best and worst)of each Printer and also the max Flow rate. The caliper will be set to the point that I think the prints starts to fail. After looking at the pics, I held the caliper too high on the XL pic. It should be closer to where the K2 is.

Pics will be horizontal to keep it clean, so it will be Left side fast, right side slow.

The VFA test was done as follows
Start speed: 50mm/s
End Speed: 300mm/s
Step: 10mm/s

Flow test was done as follows. Skme were stopped early so I didnt clog my extruder.
Start Volumetric Speed: 10mm3/s
End Volumetric Speed: 40mm3/s
Step: .5mm3/s

The results will obviously only be based on the filaments chosen and only serves as a comparison.

Bambu X1C. Cooling was the downfall on the flow test.

I added this pic to show why I failed it here. There is an arrow pointing to an inside corner thats shielded from the aux fan.

Qidi Plus 4

K2 Plus

Prusa XL (Im guessing similar to the Core One)

Keep in mind that these dont show the whole picture. Take all of what I’ve posted over the last couple days and think about all of it and how each fit in to your specific situation. Do you need a scalpal, pocket knife or a gold plated axe.

If you have any other test you would like to see, let me know. Nothing crazy though. And keep in mind that multicolor stuff takes forever no matter what I print it on. I can only test 2 colors on the XL.

Well, it was not until it became this. This thread was originally about Bambu new printer announcement

Well, the first printer speculated was the X1E, in 2023 then that was released, 1 month or 2 pages into the convo, someone speculates on the magneeto x. And so on. I believe the X1E has a whole section now. Another cool thing is that we can also use this thread for the upcoming bambu printers. We do that, but there hasnt been any info in a while and its pointless to keep saying the same stuff.

Did you have some new info to share? Was there something you wanted to know about the x1E? I can help, if so.

Pretty sure people talk about non bambu filament in the filament section. Atleast this is in the other section.

I promise you, when there is an announcement, that will be the way the topic shifts.

If Bambu were smart, they would pay somebody to watch threads like this. I do half the scouting work for them. And they usually win overall comparisons anyway. So win win for them as long as reviews are honest.

I’m curious to see about the Core One once it’s out in the wild. The product reveal is neat and all of that, but I want to see a breakdown that isn’t obscured by marketing hype.

I like a corexy style printer. Not overly interested in like Creality or Qidi, but I trust Prusa would put together a solid printer. I have a soft spot for Anycubic, so wont shun their S1 so directly, haha, but still.

I’m gonna be watching out for photos from you guys that have one on order

Thanks, I appreciate you taking the time to do this.

X1c pretty much what I expected and yours is definitely better than mine was.

Plus 4 VFA’s looked pretty good but I was surprised by the low flow rate

K2 looked good in both tests.

XL great flow rate, but unusual VFA’s in one direction mostly clean in the other.

The Swiss army knife seems to be doing okay again.
