Successful Prints

New parents asked me to design a variation of the baby wipes holder. They wanted a hinged box, not the telescopic holder.

Both designs use gravity to self adjust the pressure on the soft wipes bag.

Hot off the press. These are netting clips for solar panels to keep the birds from nesting under them. PETG HF. The white makes the surfaces a little hard to tell quality but they are great. No bumps or bubbles. Just the normal layer ridges. I’ve been printing these in fair quantity since I’m replacing the PLA ones I made last year but have warped from the sun. This is a better design now and prints without support. Even the PLA ones were still holding the netting fine but were only barely holding on.

I’m so sold on PETG HF it’s not funny. Prints are beautiful and the added temperature and UV resistance puts it over the top for outdoor applications!

Great use case for this new material!

We’ll see how it holds up but I’m hopeful the headroom over PLA is good enough. Solar panel frames get hot in direct sun. I’m surprised all the PLA ones did was flex out to lose their grip.

The solar company that did our install has it in the contract that any modifications to the panels voids the warranty so 3D printing to the rescue. The clips I drew up don’t even touch the glass. They get close but don’t touch so all they do is grip the aluminum channels. That was ok with them and the clips don’t use any tools. Just clip into place and push the netting into the groove.

The original PLA clips only needed about 40 or so replaced last year (out of almost 300). This year I’m changing them all out and hopefully it’s the last time I have to mess with it for a while.

My first try using AI to generate a image and turn it into a stencil.

EONO PLA 3-color Silk Green/Purple/Copper on a smooth PEI plate, with hoops for nylon thread added.

Minimal stringing. And it clinged to the plate with all it had. I won. :muscle: :trophy:

I do not deny your right to use AI, I hate to think of what the less thoughtful people will spew out.

This place could turn into an AI outlet rather than human designed models.

Looks like wet filament.

Yes, wet filament it is. The kid wanted it fast.

Currently I am experimenting with speeding up the auto tracing of existing images and bringing them inside SOLIDWORKS. I am not an artist.

Example, for my wife’s birthday, the gift box was more interesting than the gift.

I asked Copilot to create a coat of arms containing Huskies. Also, she is a fan of Florence and the Machine, so this was the result:. My son wanted to add sapphires on the crown.

By the way, this is the biggest box that can be printed on P1P. No glue required.
