As with most any case, errors can occur. I believe if Bambu Labs list SUNLU PLA Matte Filament in acceptable filaments list in Bambu Studio, they have made the necessary settings to use it.

The answer is yes - and welcome to the community.
Anyone who’s been here since the beginning knows I was a real advocate for Bambu. But in the two years I’ve owned one of the original P1Ps, I’ve completely soured on their consumer-hostile, corner-cutting approach. They’ve become the epitome of arrogance and the “can do no wrong” mindset.

If you want to understand Bambu’s business methods, it helps to know the Chinese concept of “Chabuduo” (差不多), loosely translated as “close enough.” Here’s a good article on what it means in practice:

Once you’ve dealt with Chinese companies - as I have - or looked closely at some of the knockoffs from AliExpress, Temu, Amazon, or Harbor Freight, you’ll start to recognize the pattern. It wasn’t always like this with Bambu. Early on, they were the iPod of disruptive innovation. Now they milk their existing customers while rushing 90%-finished products like the H2 to market, leaving buyers to find the flaws and hope for fixes - fixes that, in my experience, only happen if they protect filament sales or boost new printer sales.
Look at the P1 series owners. We helped get Bambu to their current success, but firmware support ends in 2028 - and if you update, they’ve blocked using slicers like Orca. Even a “new” P1 hasn’t seen real improvements in over a year, and Bambu already announced firmware support will end in three years. Planned obsolescence at its finest.
