Synchronize preview with device print status

I like to monitor certain parts of my prints closely. Being able to match up where the printer is currently in relation to the gcode is helpful.

Add a checkbox to the “Preview” window, to have the toolhead, and layer sliders follow along with actual device printing

I came here to suggest this very feature. I think it would be a great addition and would make monitoring the prints much easier. I can see where tracking the printhead location for each layer may be too processor-intensive, but synchronizing the layer slider on the preview with the current print layer should be pretty straightforward.

How do we get the community in on this? I think a ton of people would get behind it if they know the ask was out there.

I’d like to see this feature in B.Studio, too.
Always had this on screen when using Octoprint with my good old Anycubic Mega

I too would like to see this functionality.

This is a feature I also find myself wanting as a new customer moving from an Ender 3 utilizing Octoprint. Strange to me this isn’t already a feature.

The Prepare and Preview tabs of Studio/OrcaSlicer generate g-code and send it as a single file to the printer. Neither slicer streams the gcode line-by- line to the printer the way Octoprint does.

You can monitor the status of the printer from the Device tab but there is no print status information sent to the Prepare/Preview tabs during a print.

That also means you can work on another project during a print, close the slicer, or even turn off the computer once the file is sent.
