I recently set up 2 AMS units on my A1 and have been having a bit of an issue.
Sometimes (and it’s not always) when the filament changes the filament will stop at the AMS hub (A1 version) and not feed through to the extruder. The AMS then tries a few times to load and sends an alert to me.
Now I think I have discovered what the issue may be, the bowden connector at the top of the AMS hub does not always drop back down into the correct position and needs to be gently manipulated to the lowest point to allow the filament to feed through. I am thinking that maybe the bowden section needs to be a little heavier to ensure that it drops properly.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what is your workaround because I can’t sit and babysit prints that take 18+ hours just in case the filament doesn’t load.
I already use the Bambu bracket to secure the AMS hub to my printer. I will investigate the other bracket you linked to see if that makes any difference.
@Amethsyt_Isis08 I’m experiencing the same issue with A1 AMS hub. Did you end up finding a solution? Maybe using a different bracket to attach the hub to the A1 printer?
I have the exact same issue. The reason is: When the tube has a small pull to the left side (print head in most left park position), the filament crashes into a small plastic edge and gets stuck. i have to center the exit (top) to get it through. I thought it was a bad unit and contacted support. After days of sending pictures and videos, they sent a new one. With the exact same issue. So annoying. Just bought AMS2 Pros for ~800€ and this ■■■■■■ 23€ thing destroys all convenience the AMS brought?
No idea how to proceed now. Guess I have to support the tube to be more in center all the time.

I am having this exact problem! I’ve just setup my Ams2 pro (with my a1) last night and a 4 color test worked perfectly. Fired it up this morning and now the filament won’t feed unless I manually push the bowden connector back down. I see that another user found a different bracket for attaching the hub… but my a1 model is older and does not have the screw holes required to use it. SO frustrating! I’ve also read many complaints today from people struggling with similar feeding issues and no clear solution. This thread is the first to recognize how the Bowden mechanism is not returning to the down position….
I think I have a potential solution! Longer PTFE tube connecting the hub to the print head. The one included with the A1 hub is too short and pulls the bowden connector to the left, causing a lot of friction and preventing it from retracting when the filament is retracted.
I happened to have some because I bought extra when I got my printer (rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it). I cut a length about 8 inches (200mm) longer than the one that was included with the hub and it seems to have fixed the problem by preventing the bowden connecter from rubbing on the housing so much.
It’s also worth noting that I first tried using some plastic-safe silicone grease on it, first. So that’s there, too.
I have the same issue and have found that when the filament retreats back to the AMS I see the plunger is extended outward. When the filament returns all I have to do is push the plunger in and hold it in place till the filament passesthrough and gets to the extruder it forces itself out. At that I I release it and it works with out issue. I cannot baby sithis all the time but this is the only way I get it to work. I hope Bambu will figure out a fix.
