Due to the fact that I possess neither the inclination nor the requisite level of patience to allocate a non-negligible fraction of my finite temporal resources toward an endeavor that, upon thorough cost-benefit analysis, appears to yield no discernible intellectual, emotional, or pragmatic return on investment, I must regrettably decline to engage in such an exercise in futility. Consequently, let this statement stand as the unequivocal, final, and irrevocable conclusion of my participation in this discourse, beyond which no further commentary, elaboration, or engagement shall be forthcoming from my end.
I love this as well. As I mentioned above, the community tab needs a barrier to entry.
I swear that I am going to crash if you guys do this. Take away the fun ones, you guys gotta take yours too! Itâs so dumb that all of you who complain about life and report every fart like a Karen do the exact same thing! You post your animals, you talk about your points, you do social media stuff. So if you wanna take down stuff like #Daily Dose of Memes, you gotta take down EVERYTHING non-3d printing related.
Can you please consider adding moderation on the Makerworld community because currently it is unusable due to the spam posting done by kids. I love when I see legitimate posts related to 3d printing but currently the original purpose has been lost. @PineappleBun_BBL @Tanklet
Instead of going all rampant on this forum, spend some time on the community page with the daily doses of memes⌠while you can
the block and report buttons are getting a workout, I have zero fs left today, satan.
Iâve been a very active user of the Community tab on MakerWorld for several reasons:
- When uploading new designs, I enjoy writing a little snippet about the release and sharing it with followers
- Running polls to see what users would like to see is helpful
- Sharing sneakpeeks/early looks at designs is fun, I get good feedback, and followers get excited for when the model releases
So I think the Community tab has good value for me, however, @Zammer3D is completely right that itâs flooded with spam, reposts, non-3D printing posts, and especially begging.
Thereâs a large group of users who post on the Community tab using it like social media, just posting random thoughts, images, and irrelevant stuff. A bit unsurprisingly, but these users are predominantly children and minors (for some reason almost all of them put their age in their bios, with many being 13 and under). Iâve blocked a huge handful of these users and itâs helped greatly to see actual posts about 3D printing, designing, etc.
I think the Community tab could be very useful for the designers on MakerWorld, it already has most of the features that I would want to use (follower/subscriber only posts, articles, polls, video uploads). I see several other designers running polls, posting sneakpeeks, and getting feedback and it looks like itâs been useful.
I agree greatly with the many suggestions for moderation:
- Removal of irrelevant/non 3D printing related posts
- Removal of Boost/Follow/Download Begging
- Removal of unsanctioned âContests/Giveawaysâ
- Possibly a separate sections for different topics
I think a barrier of entry might be useful too, like others suggested. I like the features the Community tab has and itâs a shame that its lack of moderation results in endless spam post that turns away many creators. Itâs completely understandable why so many creators avoid the Community tab so I hope some form of moderation or barrier of entry will be introduced.
YeahâŚthatâs kinda what we want to do
yes please
I donât think you go to a McDonalds and then start asking for pizza? You are at the wrong placeâŚ
This community came to MakerWorld for 3D printing, we do not wish to see you guys yapping about chickens, pancakes x waffles, memes and religious verses. There are other places to do that. If you donât like that then YOU pack your stuff and go elsewhere! Why should a community that likes 3D printing leave a 3D printing platform because of irrelevant content no logic in thatâŚ
That being said:
WellâŚ.the only thing Iâm gonna say is yes, you guys are those things
Womp womp
Sadly you are correct and the posting is down by a bunch of kids
Kids are taking this thing too seriously, its not even a real social media platform, they just like being âpopularâ. There are people only have an account because of the community, they donât post models, and they have 200+ community posts. You want to get popular? Then go to reddit or a website that is actually meant for this kind of garbage. Saying the obvious donât make people a âkarenâ. You what to be popular? Then spend some time making decent models, instead of posting videos of Caseoh. Really? All you are doing is proving that you are the 12 year olds people think you are.
When I got my printer and joined MakerWorld in January, I found the community section great. I think staff were more active then. There were a number of competitions and I think I won 4x by making useful posts. I thought it was always like that but definitely noticed last month a whole lot of children in there spamming things that should be on their personal social media pages, not a community 3D printing page. Those sort of posts wouldnât be tollerated in a 3D printing facebook group, which I use more now to read for helpful tips and advice rather that the community tab now. I asked questions on the community and my posts werenât seen, probably due to the spam on the community page where nonsense âlets see if this can get the most spam commentsâ posts seem to be doing well.
Thatâs fine, just crash somewhere where we canât hear you complain
Iâd love to hear you say that the moderators on a subreddit are Karens for keeping posts on-topic⌠feel free to DM me with your eventual ban lol
What if people printed an animal model or made it and they want to show the community it? After all, the community is one of the best ways to show people what youâve been making. Maybe if you stopped posting your garbage and actually looked at the posts from designers you would get our perspective.
I will admit that there should be a bit less boost and point talk (especially boost begging and trading) on the community page. Iâll give you that.
But at least the âsocial media stuffâ we do is 3D printing related. What if somebody posted a 500-word essay on cars on a cat forum? What do you think the reception to that would be? I say they would get told to post their stuff somewhere else on the dedicated websites made for that stuff.
That is for YouTube and social media sites like Reddit, not for MakerWorld. Do you see the word âmemesâ in âMakerWorldâ? well I sure donât
Its a 3D printing website what do you think???
YEA UM WELL IM ONE OF THEM THAT IS NONE STOP POSTING SO I WILL STOP RIGHT NOW THANNKS FOR THE TI[
I agree, the kids can get a little annoying, but why do you want to be karens? you were also like that when you were a kid! stop the cyberbullying!
I was being an annoying little kid on a boat once. This dude picked me up and held me over the side. Told me to knock it off or heâd throw me into the river.
Dude was 100%. I was an annoying little kid, and I wasnât thinking about what a brat I was being to everyone else on that boat.
Just because we were once kids doesnât excuse poor behavior.
They are now taking down any non 3d printing related post you report. Just reported one under the spam option and said it was unrelated to 3d printing. It was removed within an hour. Thank you Makerworld!
Thanks for your dedication, I donât even go to this place anymore
