The Saga of Johnny_Bit, what AI dreams it could be ;)

In the MakerWorld category there were some discussions about AI generated cover images and when going over the cover and thumbnails of my most recent project - Paper Pumpkins my wife joked that those look good enough to be AI

So - here’s a backstage from the photoshoot

Also - No AI was used in order to generate idea, models, photos, post-processing of photos, title, description…

your wife has it wrong, sometimes AI is good enough that it looks like good pictures, not the other way around

really great pictures, and they bring out the best of your design and prints, nicely done!

Pumpkins might be real, not so sure about the guy with the camera…

This appears to be an AI generated thread!

That round thing in the third picture, seen on the left corner, seems generated. No way a real bald is not shiny

On a more serious note. It does not seem AI generated at all. Good pictures are good pictures :ok_hand:

Excellent setup and results! My wife’s hobby is photography, yet I always end up using my phone’s camera instead of the nicer camera as figuring it out seems like a whole other hobby. :joy:

you have to recruit your wife for the photography side of things, and you focus on design and printing

Actually… My wife’s hobby is too photography - the camera used is my wife’s old camera and my wife’s the reason photos are good, regardless whether I took it with cellphone or DSLR  As @h3li0 said - recruit your wife

And after a bit of nagging from my lovely wife, I’ve made something that “looks like from the home decor store”:

As usual: No AI was used in order to generate idea, models, photos, post-processing of photos, title and so on

(a lot of wife’s help was utilized though)

Ever since starting doing 3D, going to home decor stores is PAIN. There’s sooo much stuff that I go either “I could design that better” or “I wonder if I could design something like this.” But couple days ago I’ve saw a set of overpriced candles that fit my recent aesthetic sooo much I couldn’t pass up the opportunity:

The AI engines will now assimilate your photos and soon the rest of us will be able to generate similar home decor renders, muahahahah

Seriously though, those are great photos from great efforts on your part

Heh, I’m more worried about people looking at my stuff and thinking “hey, I can do that!” and coming up with items I already thought of that are in my “todo list,” especially christmas decor  .

As for AI photos… The AI already has whole instagram to get inspiration from so whatever I’ll come up with, the AI probably has already something better in learning data, made by better photographer, but I don’t mind - that’s mine and I’ve made it

Thanks!

I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to add 2nd candle holder design, as inspired by those from home decor stores:

Now I’ve got a perfect “gift set” for anybody that I’d otherwise be “forced” to get the candle gift set :stuck_out_tongue:

So now… Onto making christmas prints and models

Now, let me show you something opposite of AI generated: hand drawn, hand-inked, scanned, cleaned up, extruded with all the “flaws”… I’d say truly hand-made Christmas Ornaments:

Hello fellow humans and bots! I’ve made another “paper” design: Snowman family!

This is the 1st of the Winter/Christmas themed ideas for my “paper” stuff. I think I’ve got a bit fixated on that theme… But then I love the sounds my A1 makes when printing those…

silly idea, do not open

With the interchangeable hats I have a silly idea: I’d like to post another hat model + the negative part necessary to make a hole in the bottom of the hat and maybe someone can come up with better hats and make a remix?

Why not starting a post with your designs? I understand you want to share and they look cool, but I think it’s off topic here

Edit/ or maybe it’s just the title that throws me off

Well… You’re looking at one :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, it started kinda jokingly and I settled on that joke… Except for the christmas ornaments on every design during shooting I’m trying for at least one shot that someone would go “uh… Was this AI gen?.. Naaaah” The candles were the hardest to do so far, but the snowman family last photo was in my opinion successful

Should I change the title to something less “baity” and more “sharing my designs” stuff? I’m open to suggestions

yeah i think as we have a bunch of these AI conversation topics i was confused on which one i was  i opened it thinking i was going to see one of those “gems” that people find time to time, and wasn’t really remembering the vibe of the entire thread

i do like this aesthetic you’ve been playing with, especially the pillars, and of course i appreciate the good photography you’ve been doing, keep it up!

but yeah the title is a bit strange, for someone like me that sorts by latest and go through the topics titles before opening it’s a bit odd, but whatever works for you, there are definitely stuff happening on makerworld that is much more click baity than this title hahah

You should! All these threads about the topic that shall not be named, I almost forgot where I was at.
