The wait ends on March 25! 🚀

i just changed my older ender3 into a laser engraver and the fumes are indeed a key element to manage. I m thinking of moving it outdoor actually. But let s see what they come up with!

Bambu are in the business of creating 3D printers - it doesn’t make sense for them to integrate CNC or laser (cutting) hardware.

I want a built in 3d scanner!!!

Probably will never happen

Just as little as an integrated laser. Hopefully  Only a UV laser would work, everything else would be complete rubbish.

I dont think we are there yet for a reasonably priced scanner giving a quality result that wouldnt require major tinkering not to mention at a size integrable to a print head. The price for that kinda scanner would run prob the price the entire printer will be

What the advantage of a UV laser?

I agree about the price, but like 3d printers a few years ago were expensive for features like auto levelling and multicolour etc then along came bambu and altered the 3d printing landscape and suddenly other 3d printer makers where rushing out similar features and prices dropped! (how many other makers have there own AMS type systems now ?!) Someone has to do it first so why not bambu ? parts wise your more than likely looking at no more than £500 on top of the printer ? (a revopiont scanner is £800 to £1000 but half of that is development and profit) Something like this would put bambu back in lead of inovation? Sadly they are falling behind most others now have more features than bambu lab printers at a lower cost…! (Anycubic Cobra S1 for example!)

Oh it would totally be innovative if they pulled it off, I just dont see it. A lot of those $500 to even $800 scanners like Revopoint still need a lot of post processing. A lot of which has to do with building an entire program around doing that and still it needs a decent amount of manual touch up. I’m not aware of an open source 3d render program like that yet (Program like JMStudio that 3D Maker Pro uses) since they used orca to build their slicer I dont see them having the chance to develop an entire 3d mesh/rendering program to clean up scans. Then to also have to develop the scanner further in order to form fit it in a even smaller package to fit in to the printer I just dont see that happening yet. Could it in the further, I sure hope so cuz scanning and 3D Printing go together like peanut butter and jelly. Its just too much of a frustration for the average (or even slightly seasoned) person to do with the tech available (at a reasonable price point) so I dont see them working on making that work just yet. Hopefully in the future though. I would take a loan out for a printer that would scan and print (with good results) lol

I bet creality will be the next company to build a scanner into the printer. They are kinda winning the scanner battle at multiple price points. They also use “expensive” closed loop steppers. They could put a scan raptor in a k2 plus. add a magnetic lazy susan thats somehow controlled by the printer. Mount the raptor to a vertical rail. and sell it for $2,500. Would get great 1 pass scans if it was automated

That would be amazing. If I could just drop an item in my 3dprinter that it could then scan and just reproduce, something like that would be priceless.

i think the 24th is the fan for the head

Hello all !
I must say I am a bit disappointed…
Yes, I know a lot of people think that bigger is better but what if you do not have the space for it ?
But not everybody lives in a house with a garage where they can put a 3D printer the size of a small hotel fridge.
Some of us live a normal size appartment and still want to enjoy 3D printing .
I have the space for an A1 printer and I could maybe squeeze an X1 into it. But I also want the more advanced H2D printer with the new technologies.
Bambu came out with the A1 mini and then came out with the larger A1. That means Bambu can make variants of the same model.
I hope they come with a smaller version of the H2D.
I heard about the Wondermaker ZR printer which is also multiheads but smaller. If it is not a hoax it could be interesting…

They make machines just for your situation. 5 of them. Not everybody is a prosumer afterall. A prosumer would find the space by getting rid of the couch lol.

I really want a boston dynamics dog, but they are prosumer robotics. Top tier devices always leave a bunch of people left out. I feel the pain my friend

But they would keep the fridge to keep the beer cold !

Is your source then suggesting it will have a plug n play toolhead ? which would see a need for an integrated toolhead board , if you look, its what the shown laser appears to be (plug n play) , or could it simply be a measuring device / laser, that plugs in seperatley , somwhere else on the printer (two leads) one runs round the back one appears to run under the flap

The funny thing is: it most likely already has a lidar in the print head. So that expensive 3D scan technology is already present, just oriented a bit awkward.

But if that lidar is capable of scanning on bigger distances I can easily see a way where you lay the object in a couple orientations on the print bed and some software should be able to scan it and stitch it together. There could even be a special print bed for calibration purposes.

Maybe I’m thinking too easily about it but I don’t think it’s much of a stretch?

I agree with your points, but truth be told why would it need to be open source ? They could team up with one of said good 3d scanner makers, it would make a lot of sense for the 3d scanner company as at the moment the market is very small and select for 3d scanners and to able to increase sales volumes via a Good well known 3d printer company is a no brainer…! ie Your product and my product = lots of sales and profits for both of us! Remember this would be a first to market and as you stated, you’d get a loan for a printer like that means there is a market for this product. Trust me when I say the first 3d printer company to do this will have BIG sales if the price is right…!!

Only if it has a 4-Axis … then I would buy one. Not really interested in another print head or other fancy so called “Doodads”.

Just my personnel opinion, not worth much.

The hardest of the hardcore prosumer would get rid of the whole bed and sleep on the couch
