The woes or printer profile ratings

Because 45 minutes is just too long to wait for a multi color print? Jeez…

Finally got a strange one:

They changed the print profile (added supports, which is not needed), it messed up the print and they were sill able to rate the print profile (that didn’t use supports). How is it at all possible that they could still rate the print profile?

Yup, just how it works.

It is possible for a user to download your profile, swap out the entire model/settings/printer print it, and still ‘rate’ your profile.

I change profiles very often (resize, add some functionality I need, add or remove supports etc.) and still can rate the profile. Of course I do it at my own risk so I won’t ever lower my rating because of this

I find that strange as well. I even combined multiple prints by importing 4 different projects together, and it still asked me to rate the original print profile. It probably would be appropriate if ratings are disabled if any changes are made.

I think you shouldn’t (be able to) rate at all at that point. Especially if you report an issue I believe you can’t even rate more than 3 stars (what happened here I think).

I don’t know since I almost never print from MakerWorld.

I don’t like to report bad ratings but I’ll report this one because it is an issue created by MakerWorld/Bambu and not the reviewer.

I think yes and no. In my opinion it depends on the type of the changes made. For example sometimes I add a huge hole to use a model as a flowerpot (so only the outer walls remain), and recently I just add a tiny loop to hang some figurine on a Christmas tree. In the second case, basically nothing changes and it doesn’t affect the print.
And above all, the system reminds you to add a rating

I don’t know anything about it. I’ve only reported a small issue once and rated the profile 4 stars (for the record: in this case, I didn’t change anything  )

That’s completely understandable and I hope they will remove this rating.

As if the print time was not displayed anywhere…

For real. lol
Makes me wonder what’s going through some of these people’s heads when they are rating prints.

As stated, it is possible, it is extremely dumb as they are rating my profile, not theirs, yet, they can rate their mistakes as mine.

Very few have your sensibilities.

It shouldn’t be based on some changes, if something is changed, it isn’t my profile anymore.

Examples:

  • Changing materials
  • Changing wall count
  • Adding, removing or changing support
  • Moving it on the build plate
  • Changing the quantity printed

I made all these changes and it failed, why didn’t you make the profile better, fail!

Erm, I did, YOU changed it.

There is something to it but I think they won’t change it because then the number of ratings (and comments) will decrease significantly. A lot of people change something. And they want people to rate (by giving some points for rating so people are additionally motivated to do it).

When I read the comments I think most people don’t change anything. They don’t look at the description, they don’t look at the pictures, they don’t know really what to expect and they just press print. But a rate the model (not print profile) function would be great, then everybody can rate.

I agree. I found this very confusing at first. As a new user, I was thinking I was being asked to rate the model. The language in BambuStudio needs to be clearer and explicitly state what you are rating and why.

People change something even if they don’t understand it. Designer usually only does profile for a single printer and if they print from Bambu Handy on any other printer then the printer is changed for them. If they print from Bambu Studio then they do change from studio (there’s even a thread of people not understanding that the 3mf they download is the one designer made, so they NEED to choose their printer and it’s not a bug).

When I rated your profile for the spool, I changed something BIG: I printed one plate on one printed while the other plate on another printer  That required 2 separate slicing ops

The number of new printer owners (thanks to discounts and Christmas) correlates positively with the proportion of stupid reviews.

Unfortunately, that can’t be changed - but I wonder what insurmountable hurdles still prevent @Makerworld from excluding at least 1 to 3 star ratings without any text or image information.

They still appear - despite the ban.

Apparently my print profile made it stick too well to the build plate.

You’ve gotta make sure with those supertack plates that it comes off perfectly, maybe implement a thing that cools down the bed but doesn’t let the user remove the print until it’s fully cool? And make sure that it makes them flex the plate gently too. You have to account for these things, don’t you know?

This should be easy if Makerworld allows us to add our own Gcode to the print profile. After printing, I simply let the print head whiz unexpectedly across the print bed at maximum speed until it cools down, so that no one dares to reach there.

I’d like to beta test your ‘defensive printing’ features. I’d have so many less warped prints if my printer saved my prints from my impatient fingers.

But if you’re still impatient, your fingers might be warped afterwards.
