This new auth system will make me sell my printers

PERFECT REPLY to a silly and poorly thought out post. Thank you. I don’t think people have to take history anymore and have the memory of a goldfish…

Lol, like creality?

Sorry, let me back up, because I just had to have a good chuckle with that one.

What do I care? It doesn’t affect me.

Oh, that was actually kind of easy to write. Not sure how that baffles you so. If you want to have a go and see, I suggest giving it a try. It’s easy.

I mean, before Bambu printers and their slicer, I felt like a lot of time was spent tinkering. I need more time to tinker. How can I get more of that?

I don’t need to look in a mirror to know what I’m guilty of. I’m well aware my crimes against humanity. How aware you are though, I don’t know. Was that you watching me from the bushes, or the pesky fbi again?

Are you like a blood microwave? Or? What wattage? I’m not feeling my blood boil. It feels… normal? Should I feel it boiling? I’m not sure.

You heard it here first folks. This is the perfect reply.

Uhh, unless you’re a kid in school, then you totally should still be taking history.

Huh? What was that? I think I was on my way to get a soda from the fridge or something. Haha, you know how it is when you walk in a room and completely forget why you’re there.

This does not feel like the same Josh we used to see here, sadly.
But i won’t be in the middle of that discussion. Was just a thought…

Google it.
Bambu Lab 3D printer may not allow you to print if you don’t update its software because recent firmware updates from Bambu Lab include a mandatory authentication system, meaning you need to be logged into your account and have the latest software to initiate a print job, even for local printing on the LAN; if you choose not to update, your printer may be restricted from starting new prints.

I personally don’t understand the trust issues.
I’ve now read through the bambu blog post and they still provide the offline lan mode if someone hates the cloud(me too). But with the improved security additions.
That currently does not change a thing(for me at least), I can still use it locally without the cloud and just the authorization is changed. I don’t think that we need that “enhanced” security locally except your grandma with her phone tries to access your printer without permission somehow when you give her your wifi.

So for me, it’s okay. Do we need it? I don’t think so except if you are a cloud user.
I will still use bambu and this is not something that destroys my trust. I use bambu studio so that still works without issues offline.
One thing I think would be good to have is an option to disable it(at least for lan mode) to keep things simple locally when I tinker with it.

Of course this is just my opinion

I’m just exhausted with all of this and lashing out in a snarky manner.

This is my community, and over the past few days here I’ve seen it completely over run and shat on by day old accounts. The sheer amount of misinformation, bad takes, and just knee jerk reactions and all of it.

And seeing on Reddit, the blatantly false things that people tried to spread, and fine, there’s problems. I wont be such a ■■■■ as to say with sincerity that “What do I care? It doesn’t affect me.”, because it does. Even if it doesn’t directly, it still affects the community I’m a part of, and those that do make use of these features; people that are my friends, that are people I respect.

I’m sick of these people flooding in here on their crusades though. They don’t make me feel sympathetic to the issue. They come in screaming and yelling about how horrible Bambu is and just going over as such. A lot of it doesn’t come across as genuine to me.

Reading the post of my fellow forum users though, that’s different. You guys don’t come in here trying to stir ■■■■ up. We don’t all always get along, but we’re here around each other and show each other a level of respect that just isn’t there with this stream of people flooding in to complain. Some of the most thoughtful post have come from those on this forum. Even those that may not be so keen on Bambu already, but they are still actively a part of this community and still treat it with respect.

Key word here is may. Bambu officially said they are not going to be bricking printers

I was not trying to stir you up, i am sorry if i made it look that way. It’s just that sometimes i just come here to read “you” or other fellow community members and get a chuckle out of it after a sh1tty day.

I get it, no worries. After reading it all i got the point but i had already written the previous message.

Everything is good when good is everything

It’s self reflection. I looked in the mirror, and maybe I didn’t see a criminal, but I did see a side of myself that I’m not always pleased with.

And there’s where the self reflection stings a little, because I feel this. I was being snarky, but out of frustration and not just the joy of being silly. I was trying to take a step back, but still managed to place myself right in the middle of it.

Basically, I think you’re right, and that was an admittance that I’m not being my best.

I wasn’t referring to you and actually approved of some of your comments. Maybe put the phone down for a while. I think you’re a little wound up.

Some of my biggest concerns are paywall and cloud connection to make BS work. I already don’t like Fusion360 cloud. I don’t like having to connect to the cloud to save/edit files.

com’on, some of that was funny. I mean, looking into a mirror, and I even did a call back. This is like top tier stuff here.

Like I said though, I was just being snarky. Nothing I said in that particular post should be taken too seriously. My apologies though, as it was at your expense in a way that it didn’t have to be.

Gonna drop this here for everyone too.

It’s difficult to relate to username_randomnumber. Let’s expand our community by being a part of it.

It pains me to say that I’ll likely be joining many others that choose to move their business elsewhere. I can only hope that Bambu listens and corrects course before it is too late.

Bambu would have to really convince me they’ll never try something like this again. Otherwise the distrust will always be there and I’ll be thinking what if they silently try this in 6 months after it all cools down; causing me to stay in LAN mode without internet.

I don’t think Bambu is going to be spending any time trying to convince you

Or anyone, for that matter.
They are fixed on that point and they won’t move, not even an inch. It may not be now, but what they are planning is already in motion way back before this. This just came and made it worst.

It’s a game of “wait and see”. That’s it.
Go full Lan mode or Cloud mode, your choice. But also vote with your wallet next time you want t buy anything 3d printing related. Our wallet is their power, as it is with any company.

Stay quiet but don’t forget! Be vocal when the time comes and not now that they tried to save their face. People will hate you now because Bambu said sorry.

Stay away from Creality; the K2 Plus is a real piece of shxt. It works for a maximum of three weeks before having 3-4 separate failures. Their support is non-existent of takes 4-5 days between responses, parts are non-existent.
